My friend and I were discussing the power of the spoken word. According to her, people speak hastily without thinking about what they are saying. What they do not know is that whatever they utter happens. Things happen because we say it. That is the power of man. What man says happens...
Do you believe this?

Man1:"is this village good?".
man2: "If your tongue is good, then this village is also good".
This is a small example of speech power. Each word is important while we are communicating(talking/listening) with others.
have a nice day friend.

No I don't believe in that. I speak all the time about getting a health problem solved or making financial ends meet a little easier... but it never happens. Yes, people speak before they think, but that just means other things could happen too. If the spoken word had so much "power"....there'd be alot of problems in this world solved and personal problems wouldn't exist.

That is a good contention, however pessimistic. Reality check though, the world is too huge with billions talking. Try saying something wonderful for yourself and for those immediately within your circle. You will discover that the things you say come true. There is one person, according to a story, who dared say I have cancerjust to prove that there is no power in the word. He did get cancer.

coffee, I didn't say you are pessimistic, I said that the idea has pessimism in it but still surmise that that is a good contention. Your explanation here supports your premise, and calls for no rebuttal. I am with you about all the noise and drudgery in the world, and all the cancer that pervades both man and society, literally and metaphorically respectively. I pray that your hearing sense becomes less painful, and as tingtong said, miracles are far-fetched, but with each whisper comes the healing. I do hope that you find peace and quiet, and happiness.

yes that is why there is a saying be careful what you wish for for it might happen. words are truly very powerful. so powerful that sometimes it is left you thinking, words can also cuts like a knife and some times it can also kill a person. some people die of heart attack because someone told them some painful words. so before saying anything think, coz when you said something already saying sorry wont change the hurt feeling.

To a certain extent, I would say that there is some kind of power in the spoken word. However, even more than power in the spoken word, I believe in the power of actions that people make in their lives. I think that all of the actions that we make in the course of our life have a lot of impact on what is going to happen in our future. In fact, that is the reason that I am always kind to other people because I want other people to be kind to me.

Hi eileen!
This happened because we already set it to be happened. That's what people call as The Law Of Attraction. We attract things based on our actions, words, mind-setting etc that will practically lead to things happen. That is why we are encouraged to speak and utter good things as the old people says, 'what we say is what we pray for.'

I do believe this ...it is surprising if you really look into it how coincidence seems to happen in some circumstances with the spoken word, I think there could be a lot that we do not understand about many things...

Yes lilaclady, it is as simple as that... when we really want good and wonderful things for ourselves and our loved ones, all we have to do is to say it and will it to happen... Someone always listens...

The spoken word can speak volumes when it is used in the right way. The spoken word can also be abused if we are not careful in our choices. Once a word is spoken out loud, it can never be taken back again. If that is not power, what is?

Yes, it can come back to haunt you, bite you back, shoot your foot. It has the power to harm or help. How many time have we stopped to think how we have irreparably harmed a relationship with one misspoken word? How many revolutions have been powered by the spoken word? Words can either cut like a sword or heal like medicine.

Good day eileenleyva,
I don't know if I get your point or what you mean by whatever man utter happens.Did you mean that whatever a man said it can not be taken back.Yes I believe on that, so man should be cautious on what he speaks and if so it must done in the right time and in the right place. We have a saying that man must be careful on what he spills out of him rather than what is coming in.

Yes stanley, what was said had been said, and cannot be taken back. We can only apologize for the wrong or bad words, but we cannot take them back, even if we say I take them back...

I don't really believe it. Is that the power of spoken word or some people do take credit for themselves instead? I believe in concidental happenings. If spoken word of a man is so powerful, why don't they say something beneficial to them or to everybody? If ever one noticed, power of man in words only comes true when they are talking about bad happenings.

In my opinion, I don't entirely believe it is true.
If it is for a good cause maybe it will, but if not , then it should not happen.
If that is the case, then maybe we should always speak words for the good cause only, so that there will be no more disastrous events that will happen in our lives.

Hello eileenlyeva,
Yes, i do believe in the power of the spoken word for man is blessed and sacred. This goes with the saying "And the word was made flesh" (Bible) This means to me that whatever we say may come into reality and thus we shouldn't speak imprudent words. This is why is the christian beliefs, we make sign of the cross for the forehead , in our lips/mouth, and near to our heart praying that we will be guided not to abused the capacity of those.

There are so many old sayings which include that the more you talk the higher chance is you making a mistake, say something inappropriate and other stuff. But i think that you should as much as you like, because it isn't cool to change your character.IF you are a talkative person,be a talkative don't change.

I completely believe in this power! I have been one to promote this theory. Then when I saw The Secret I was only reinforced to this understanding. Thats what worries me from time to time, this also works for others and to what they are saying. Its all the charged energy that moves the actions forth that I think creates this power.

Hi eileenleyva: I think that's truth. When we say something we attract it into our lives. I just see how some people that always think about the negative things that happend in their lifes and that tend to always look the problems attract these negative things to their lifes and it's very difficult for them to find success. I understand that sometimes, specially when you have to face your day by day problems, it's complicated to think in a positive way but we should make this effort and we'll be happier and also we'll find the answers to these problems faster.
