Why do you think most people engage in gambling?

Gambling is very rampant nowadays.. Lotteries and casinos are all around. I can say that I, for one, also gambles at times. I know that gambling is wrong if you no longer can't control yourself from gambling. But if it's only for fun and seldom, it may be acceptable. I only wish to try my luck that's why I engage in gambling sometimes. How about you, do you like gambling? Why or why not?

I love to gamble it can give you an adrenaline rush. I mysefl am not a big gambler though but I always get sneaky feelings about some football (soccer) match's and put a odd quid or two on to see if my luck comes of sometimes it does and there's no better feeling than winning £100 or so for a £2 bet.

As long as people have a limit then you can't lose to much money it's when people gamble too much that's when you need to start worrying about gambling. Like I said though I only ever put £2 on or a maximum of £5 if I go any higher in that it's usually a group of mates sharing the amount spent so that way we will all make a nice profit if we win and not lose too much money if we lose.

It's in the nature of human beings to want to get rich quick, also all the blinking lights attract people. I like a games of chance every know and again, but never for more than half an hour at a time about never for more then $20 (my usual disposable income).

I'm actually the only person in my immediate family that doesn't like gambling. I don't like to take chances, especially with money. If I'm spending it, I want to know I'm getting something out of it. A chance at more money isn't enough. Give me a guarantee and I'll part with it.
And for the question in your subject line, going from my mother, I think it's simply the thrill of the risk. And, I really think she just likes the noise and spinning from the casinos. But, I find those things boring.

You can classify gambling in various categories from past time rummy to flush to slot machines to casino games. I was playing rummy regularly a few years back. At times played flush also. With rummy if you play regularly you don't loose much if the stake is not high but in flush you can loose a lot it is full fledged gambling you can say. I have played on slot machines sometimes when I stayed in hotels long time back but I did not go beyond that. People go for gambling for the kick of it and seldom to earn money. I have now stopped all sorts of play for money including rummy. I have realized fully that it is bad. No body should venture into that and never online casinos.

I have been surrounded by people who likes gambling. hahaha... Almost all of my family and relatives are into it. I remember the time when they all spend a weekend here just to play. Play as in play anything that is available. You name it they know it. Card games, mahjong, BINGO, horse racing and the likes. It is like a gambling lord's den in here when I was a kid. hahaha...
Some of them only gamble for fun because it is the only time they socialize with us. And some of them are into it. As in they would bet on horse races or lotteries everyday. I dunno what is in their mind but for me, I do it only for fun.

It is interesting that you know it is wrong yet you do it. If you seriously feel it is wrong, why don't you seek counselling or professional help to quit it before it consumes you further and destroy both you and your family. if it is for fun, do it without the money element. Don't try your luck. Statistics show you are bound to lose in the long run, some even in the short run. Why risk it? It is more than money you are gambling away...it will erode your value system, the temper will flare up at the people you love when you lose or your feel guilty when you lose beyond what you can afford.
My friend, quit now. If you have money aplenty, might as well donate to charities to feed the poor. OK?

Back 7 years ago before my daughter was born my ex and I used to go with my parents to a casino. I would sit on the penny machines and spend no more then $10 the whole time I was there. Usually I would walk out about $5 richer lol. Money is to precious to come buy I wouldnt want to waste it by gambling. I havent been to a casino since my daughter was born. My ex when we split up his gambling addiction got so much worse. He kept thinking if he just kept going back enough or spent enough that eventually he would win such a huge sum of money that he wouldnt have such a need for money anymore. I'm smart enough I wouldnt do that! I buy my parents lottery tickets for their birthdays because they have everything a man could want so its hard to find them presents. I figure if I spend $20 on a few lottery tickets and they win a lot of money that would be awesome for them.

Gamling is a risk taking, for me gamling in a game can tolerate, but if you gambling with your life I don't want to do that. Bacause you will spend your time and the way of your life in a worng way. So many think will you bet and even you bet with you life by living with someone that not you love.

HI RECO!
Because it's based on luck and the concept is unfair and unclear (one winner and the rest are losers), that is why gambling is always said as wrong. And for me honestly gambling is always not okay whether we are poor or rich people because it could lead not could but lead to crucial social problems without we even know it..

Because most rely on luck than work their way to success. Most people want a quick way to get rich not taking in consideration the things that they might lose in the process. Then once they get addicted it'll be hard for them to turn their backs from this thing.
