I wish I was Dreaming

It's after 1am and still no luck at getting some sleep. It's almost a month now since this began but I guess I don't wanna over-think why this is happening. I wanted to do something with this time and get my hands full on something to do. I figured writing is one, reading could be fun especially in mylot, and or dreaming the night away if I can. Any suggestions or ideas on what you'd do if you aren't sleeping at a time like this?

Hiya blueangel,
Above all try not to take your worries to bed with you. Okay that is very easy to say too I know I am one of the first to lie awake counting the Sheep. If you can´t sleep and a warm drink and a warm bed won´t lull you to sleep try some soothing music. But don´t keep getting up or looking at the Clock as you will find it becomes a habit. I had this habit because my youngest Son used to cry around the Clock 24 Hours and when he did get to sleep some five years later down the line I still kept waking up at the same times.
If not I would talk to your Doctor if you have never been like this before. I have been like that before so it does not worry me when I get the odd night like that. Although the next Day I would not say the same thing. (grin).
Probably something might be worrying you and it will pass like all things do. Have a good nights sleep tonight. I hope you do anyway.

Hi...Thank you. Well nothing like that really. I am not having too much worry. It just happened one day about a month ago that I started to sleep a bit later than 1am, sometimes up until 3am. I was thinking that it probably was a change on my body clock and I'm getting used to the time but, of course I realize this isn't gonna work for long especially that I don't have anything to do while trying to get that shuteye.

Hiya blueangel,
Yes I think that most of us can have that odd night where you just can´t sleep properly. Since my Husband lost his Job he has been keeping me awake a lot more. But I still resist getting up and coming on here or watching the Television in the other Room. I persist and it works after about two Hours of trying I get back to sleep and no one will wake me up.
I practice relaxation exercises when it come to the crunch. First of all you tense all of your muscles as long as you can breathe in if you can and hold that position with all the muscles tight for as long as you can too.
Then let it go and breathe out. If you had to breathe out before that don´t worry. It relaxes all the muscles at least it did mine that is what I practice when all else fails.

Thank you...I'm actually trying out the latter. I'm also reading about relaxation techniques used in some forms of exercise. Also, I listen to more classical music nowadays.

If it takes more than three hours a night for you to fall asleep, then you have insomnia and you should go to the doctor. When I need to fall asleep, I try drinking decaffeinated tea or taking a shower. You can also do things, such as only using your bed for sleeping, and do not exercise or read or watch anything too exciting right before you go to sleep. This will just keep your mind going, which will make it extremely hard to fall asleep. You should also try not to look at a clock when in bed; the longer you feel like you've been awake, the more frustrated you will become.

I listen to relaxing music just to lure myself to bed. I stopped looking at the time for the sole reason that I didn't wanna be frustrated because I couldn't fall asleep yet for I wasn't feeling sleepy. It takes more than three hours for me to fall asleep these days. Insomnia? I hope not. I don't wanna have to take a sleeping pill.
