I think it is a generation gap..
When I was a teenager, I like Backstreet Boys and watch MTV, my parents dont like BsB but they allowed me to collect some merchandise ^^
Now I feel confused with the generation, maybe you are like me..
About JB, I only like his song (one song) that I even couldnt remember the tittle. Something that sounds like "baby, baby, baby.. ooowh?" lol

well justine is popular of todays generation. it was michael jackson back when i was a teen. duran duran, spadau ballet and other cool dudes. i dont like justine for i am too old to be a jsutine fan, but my son does not like him. my son is fan of paramore and tokio hotel. i guess my son has different type of music. i can even hear him humming tokio hotel@s songs. its okay if your niece likes bieber there is nothing wrong with that.

as what i read jsutine`s manager is ushers friend. so it only means he has good connections thats why he is in. there are a lot of artist that are not tht good but people buy it i dont know why but people buy it. but there is no way we can control kids once they had crushes on artist like that.

Paramore is good. Too bad they had misunderstanding in their band. Jackson was under stable and very likable because he can really sing but I think Justin can not.I think it is all about the media promotion that makes him popular to teens.

I don't care for him I don't find him talented. But I remember Donny Osmond and Leif Garret so I guess I get it. Though I have never got the screaming, crying and fainting hysterics from any generation including mine. I think Justin might be slipping in his "Pure" imagine. I did read where he used profanity at a staffer( for a television station?)I believe. And they say that his own sound men made out like it was nothing he does it to them all the time. ??

I never heard of those singers that you mentioned, but I guess there will always be someone in every generation that teens get so fanatic.

I'm 19 and I don't like Justin Bieber's music either, but I see the same lure in him that I remember feeling towards cute young male pop stars when I was twelve. Personally I think he's pretty handsome for a kid his age, and his voice is pretty good. He writes songs that little teen girls find catchy, and that's really all that's needed to start a landslide of fans. So I don't listen, but I understand why they like him. I was the same way at that age. Well, maybe minus the screaming and fainting.

haha, I love the part when you say fainting and screaming. I remember my elementary classmates who looked like fainting whenever she see A1 posters.

lol, yes. So screaming and fainting is not something exclusive to the young generations these days... they've just picked new people to scream and faint over. lol

I'm not a fan of Justin Bieber either. It's maybe because I'm not in my teeny-bopper age anymore. Haha...As we mature, our choices change and we become selective of who to admire or idolize especially among entertainment personalities. We look for real talents and not just cutie-cutie ones.
Justin Bieber's popularity started in and has been boosted by Youtube. This makes his interesting and is able to attract more followers. Maybe, it's just like a trend.

yeah, I trend or a fad.I t will fade away, and I hope soon. SO that other more talented and deserving singers will be given an opportunity to shine and be famous too.

I honestly don't understand what you have against Justin Bieber. I love the guy. I think he has some good people around him who will keep him grounded. His voice is changing, which happens to all teenage boys. No, he's not handsome. He's just a kid. Kids are cute, not handsome. His new haircut has given him a more mature look and he is even better looking now.
I am Canadian and proud as heck of Justin Bieber. All he did was post himself on YouTube and now dozens of people are being discovered on YouTube.
My 14yo daughter is crazy about him, but in a cool way. I keep telling her when he is on tv and ask if she wants me to tape the show and she shrugs but she is crazy about him and asked if I would break the age 16 dating rule if the guy was Justin Bieber.
What is wrong with being crazy about Justin Bieber? Everyone has their teen idols. Whether they last forever or are just a flash in the pan, who cares? I'd rather have my kid listening to JB and pasting posters of him on her wall then out running around with a bad crowd.
Get a grip. There will be more Justin Biebers, look at Grayson Chance. It's show business and there will always be teen idols. There always has been. How far back can you go? Elvis Presley? Frankie Avalon? James Dean? These "fads" as people like to call them, aren't going anywhere.

Justin Bieber seems to be the new teen dream. My teen daughter doesn't seem to like him that much and I thought she liked everyone. I guess he's all right as heartthrobs go, but he doesn't do it for everyone.

I don't get it either. Then again, there is a lot of the current state of music that I don't get. I think that my interest with current music in the year 2011 is at its absolute worst. Therefore, there is really not much of anything that has spiked my interest. I think that if you think about it, if something is hyped as the next big thing, the hugest thing in the world, then teenagers will like it for the most part.
Justin Bieber gets all of the hype and is the huge thing right now. Therefore, everyone will be jumping on the bandwagon. I just have a feeling that five years from now, he'll be a distant memory, someone that people bring up when there are fads. I really don't care for him but to be honest, I've heard far worse. Still its all about the hype. Teenagers tend to jump on every bandwagon.

I agree with you on that. When there is a hype, it sells fast because of the domino effect on teens. I think it goes with the sense of belongingness. To be in and to be accepted in a certain group.

Kidding, I know who Justin Bieber is. Every generation has their music idols. Bieber is just the flavor of the day.

Kind of cute that all pre-teens and teens like and enjoy fads, so as long as they are healthy. As I remember liking certain groups also and just had to have the clothes and accessories all the time.
I don't particularly care for Justin Bieber but our little one does, and oh with a passion. LOL..

I am not really a fun of justin beiber but I like his songs. haha! I am not sure though why there is so much hype on him. Maybe if I was a girl, I would really like him. But I am not, so its very awkward for me to be a fan and like like him. ;)

I too still don't get it how he can achieve such popularity when his songs and his voice is not all that great. Even his hairstyle is so famous and too many young teens are following what he does. Singers and musicians like Sam Tsui and Kurt Schneider (check them out on youtube!) should be made famous instead of Justin Bieber.

Myabe because Usher is the one who discovered him. Yeah there are many other aspiring singers who are so talented. I hope there will no more like Justin Biehber to come in music industry.
