Hi MyLoters Just a silly stetical discussion. Over time of using computers I became tired of the clasical Windows colors, mainly of the white background. After using the computer for long hours I got headches many times because of reading on such lighty screen too and my eyes scream for a relax. So I make a drastical change. Just as the title says, I've replaced that white background with a gray one. Look at the attached image to see the end result. I'm very comfortable with my change and apply it to every computer I work on, as not only it's relaxing to the eye, but also is something diferent from the default UI of Windows. Your opinions please!!

Now I prefer to use the white background color. And I know it's better for our eyes the white color. Reading in a dark background color may cause serious damages to our eyes, that's the reason why most of the sites use black fonts and white background color.

No, you're wrong. Bright colors cause more strain to the eye, being white the worst and black the better for reading. It's simple, the brighter the color, the more energy it radiates from the screen. That more energy reaches your eyes and that causes eye strain, visual fatige and eventually headaches. Try it yourself and you'll see. In a room with no sunlight or lamps and only with the light from the screen, put in a notepad at a full screen with a white backgroud. Then switch to a DOS fullscreen with a black backgroud. Look and read each one for 2 minutes. Tell me the result.

I'll try what you're saying. But I'm not wrong. I've read in some sites that it's bad for our eyes to read white text in a black background color. I'll try to search for more info with the mylot search tool.

I have not made changes to mine but if it helps you I say good idea and go for it as it is your eyes you need to protect so if it is available why not use it. I hope this has helped and minimized any further headaches as it can be very painful not to mention eye straining. Best of luck to you.

Yes, it helped a little. Mainly when reading a lot of text, it's more relaxing on a darker background, the write causes so much fatige over time.

Good! I'm not the only crazy mind in doing that. It becomes easier for me and is not that bad to the screen after all, but I take a time to get used to.
