I thought Tom Hanks played a hell of a role in this movie, and 3 hours was just right for a story line of this kind.

I agree, I think that three hours was the perfect length for this movie. To make it any shorter would've just ruined it. It follows a man's whole life for christ's sake! lol It also goes into detail about a lot of things, and needed more time to do so.

I had no idea that it was considered a long movie. However, considering all of the roles that he played, and how he did so much more than even most "average" men, I could see how it was 3 hours after all. I suppose it was the perfect length, because nobody has ever bragged about "sitting though" Forrest Gump. You don't sit through this movie; you live it.

Forrest Gump is a great movie and a greatmovie to watch for younger kids and to see history like that and to see how others were raised and to see how kids were treated. The movie was just long enough to get in enough information about the war and how he lived. Tom Hanks is an amazing actor and did a great job in the movie and would give him props to this movie any day.
