I have what suppose to be a full blooded Chihuahua named Rocky. He is about 3 years old, and this dog will NOT stop barking,as well as not being able to be potty train ( he wears a diaper, but that is another story ) But, it's the barking that is driving all of the family crazy. He barks at anyone coming in OR out the door, even if he knows who it is. He barks at the slightest move of any object. He is very timid, and jumpy. We have tried the dog whistle, we have tried the "No Bark " device, and nothing seems to work, but a spray bottle. He hates the water, however each of us can't carry a spray bottle around with us in the house squirting him every time he goes off. It is not just a simple bark, it is a bark that will last at least 3 to 5 minutes. It has gotten to the point that no one is wanting to even come over to our house. I have another Chihuahua, but she is 12 yrs and barks just a little. Please if anyone has any ideas for making him stop barking, please drop me a note.

Have you tried one of the barking collars, this gives a small shock when the dog barks, not enough to hurt just enough to annoy and distract them from barking.

No, I have not tried one of those , but not by choice. I mentioned to my husband one day and my youngest over heard me and she just start busting out crying, and told me I was not going to do something so cruel. I tried to explain to her but she just didn't understand or didn't want to hear me. That is why I thought I would try other things before I did that.

My mom saw something on tv that worked for their dog so she tried it herself with her two and it worked like a charm! Be firm and say "Thank You, Ok I've got it" all the while waving your hands palms facing the floor crossing the other arm as if you're saying no way or something like that and repeat it once or twice more and your dog should stop. I tried it on mine and it worked on them too! Give it a try and see if it works on yours. Good luck!
