Hi everyone!
Like I promised, I will come up with a new topic at least once a week. If responses drop off, then I will come up with a new one. Today, I would like you to introduce yourself. Tell where you are from (don't provide too much personal information like name etc), what you do and what you enjoy. If you native English speakers want to provide an example for our English Language Learners that would be ok. That way they have something to compare to. I will start by giving my introduction.
I am from the United States. I currently live in Missouri, but I have lived all over the place. I spent two and a half years teaching English in China, which is where I got the idea of starting this interest area. I like to surf the internet, work on cross stitch projects and write on MyLot. I am not currently working because I was recently diagnosed with cancer and I am recovering from surgery.
That is pretty much all about me. If you have other questions, I might or might not answer them. Keep your responses fairly simple, but complete. Have fun with this and if you see something that should be corrected, feel free to respond with suggestions. My only request is if you are correcting someone else's writing, don't do it in such a way that will make the person feel bad. Have fun with this!

spasoo,
Thanks for the introduction! It sounds like Malaysia is a nice place. It also seems like there is a lot of variety in culture and races. I hope I can help people to feel more comfortable in communicating. I don't know if you want me to make corrections in this forum or if you would prefer a private message or if I should just start a new thread with suggestions. By doing the last, everyone would be able to see it and no one would know if it was a specific person or many people making the error. What do you think? Have a great day!

Hi Lucifa,
Is that supposed to be "college"? I'm not sure whether you mean you are in college in Beijing right now or if you were in college in Hunan Province or that you are no longer in college. I hope that you are able to accomplish great things by posting here. Have fun and good luck!

Lucifa,
That is quite all right! I know how it goes. How is school going for you? What are you studying? I remember many of my students telling me how being in college helped them to mature and to feel like they were standing on their own two feet. I hope it goes well for you!

Hi, I'm from Malaysia, residing in Penang that is also known as the Pearl Of The Orient, which is located at the northern part of my country. I run my own ICT business & at the same time running some other businesses, one of them is selling stuff online. I believe in building multiple streams of income, that's why I'm doing what I'm doing

Hi zweeb82,
It is nice to meet you. It sounds like you have your act together with all your businesses. I hope that you are able to do well with that and that you can get lots of practice with your English. Thanks for introducing yourself! Good luck and have a great day!

I have been on mylot for two years, have been using mylot on and off. I was inactive for the last year because I got pregnant and I had other things to do for fun so I stopped it. And since my baby was born, I am back to mylot because I can hang out at night and stuff anymore, mylotting can be something to do while I am home with my baby. And I am now a very loving mama loving her little baby everyday

Hi mermaidivy,
I'm glad you are back. I was also inactive for a couple of years because of having other things going on. I am back now because I can't work. I should be doing schoolwork, but don't really have the interest. Hopefully you are having a lot of fun with the new baby! Have fun and happy mylotting!

I live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma USA, right next to Oklahoma City University. That is where I was going to college because I was expecting a big payoff from having been killed by the neglect of the DMV.
As the big payoff did not come--only a pittance from the inadequate driver's insurance--I dropped out, figured out that my parents were too concerned about themselves to worry about my satisfaction if I weren't 'making the big bucks,' and so keep finding new things to complain about.
I feel like Adam looking for a mate and remaining unmet among the unworthy animals.

Hi mythociate,
I understand most of what you said here, but there is one thing I am curious about. If you were killed by the neglect of the DMV, how are you here to write this? I think it is just a missing word, but just want to make sure. No insult intended, and I hope you don't think I am making fun of you. This just came across a little bit confusing to me. I'm sorry things didn't work out for you. Have you ever tried applying for financial aid? If you aren't making big bucks, you should qualify for something and then you could go back to school and make something of yourself. I have been getting financial aid for quite some time since I am not working, I can get the maximum amount of loans. If I were an undergraduate, I would also be able to get the maximum pell grant as well. Good luck!

jessxu,
It is nice to meet you. What you have here looks pretty good really. I think you are like most of my students were. Everyone says their English is so poor, but really it is not. It may not be perfect, but that's ok! The important thing is that you are able to express yourself and are not afraid to do so! What did you study in school? I hope that you will get to know the other people who post in this area and will communicate with them as well. Have a great day!

I majored in mic-electronics in my school.I like English, but there is no such environment of learning in my daily life.Yes,it's very helpful to communicate with each other as well.Actually,I read all of the responses in the area.I like to understand other people, including:their likes, their life, their happiness and unhappiness, their expression method in English, etc.I think every one can tell a story that happens to you next time. Thanks again for what you have done.

jessxu,
I'm glad you read all the other responses. You should try to carry on a conversation with some of them as well if you like. I don't have to be the only one responding to people. In fact, that could be another way to improve both your and their English. And if you see something that should be changed, you might try to tell them in a nice way. Or better yet, pose it as a question. You know, like "Don't you think it might be better if you put...?". I think if we all work together, we will all do well!
