Mayan calendar / myLot

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day, and he was telling me about a documentary he had seen. In this documentary there was mention of a set of calendars known as the Mayan calendars. He proceeded to inform me that these calendars marked the end of time. He didn't catch the exact date but was supposed to be in the year 2012. Does anybody have any idea what he is talking about?

I have read that there are actually two calendars by two different people with no connection to each other and hundreds of years apart and they both finish in the year 2012....

Thanks for the input, I wonder who the two parties are, and are these calendars carved in stone or are they on some kind of paper?

I have heard bits and pieces about this in the last year or so. I do not know alot of the facts but I did hear that the Mays predicted the end of time to come sometime in 2012. We will just have to wait and see.
