Hello mylotters,
I was given 4 "The Sporting News" papers dating back to 1964. They are only about Sports and they seem like they are all from St.Louis. mostly about baseball and one of them has the name of "Johnny Callison" on the front big picture too.
I seen these news papers almost meet their fate, and I just couldnt shake the but think, that someone is a collector and wanted or need these papers. So I grabbed what I could, they were folded and wet and almost destroyed, but I carefully seperated them and placed them in to a bag, and took them home to dry. I have pictures as well, and will take more if requested. Im not to sure what I want to do with them yet...if anyone could let me know how much they are worth or a link to a website that could point me in the right direction would be super sweet.

I've often seen old magazines for sale on eBay...people definitely do collect them. So you could try selling them there or on another auction site. These issues are probably not extremely rare since I just did a search on "Sporting News 1964" on Ebay and found a number of issues for sale with prices starting at $5.96 (and most didn't have bids). Still, it was good of you to save them...they're a part of history and if they end up in the right hands someone will really appreciate them. If you have some room, maybe you should even hold on to them for a while. I often think about how much "cheap" items of today might be worth 30 or 40 years from now when they've become much rarer.

Looking around eBay more closely I see that the starting price per issue seems to be $8. If you do go the eBay route, be sure to mention the famous names that are covered in each issue since some collectors might be big fans of a particular player. eBay may not be the way to go though since I don't see any bidding activity on these.

Thanks all Echomonster, i will check into that, although I've never sold anything off of E-bay; so I would need to learn how to send something in so it can be sold. I was thinking about hold on to them as well, but just like you pointed out, "if I have the room".
