What on Earth would I do?

Hello fellow mylotters. We had a pretty big storm last week. Had to break out the snowblower, there was waaay to much snow to shovel by hand. I had a friend help me figure it out, because he used it before. Well, it turns out, I am not strong enough to pull the choke! I tried and tried. Thank goodness my friend was there to help.
Without someone, I would not be able to start it up. What would I do without my friend? What would you do if you could not start your snowblower and the snow was heavy and there was a lot of it?

I had to deal with all of this snow myself in the past at my parents house. The snow blower was broken. Luckily, they have one strong kid to shovel that snow. The last time we had a bad storm and I had to shovel, there was a foot of snow (and it was the heavy wet snow). They would always say that they would get it fix, but forget because I would have shoveled. Shoveling had easier for me since the more I did it. Why would my family be concerned about a machine when they had a set of muscles that was more capable. It didn't help that we saw which could clean snow better, me or the blower, and I won. This time, they may get a new blower because I don't live with them anymore and my brother shovels, but he is not as strong.
Side note: my new winter hobby is now car pushing. I have been doing a lot of that this winter, helping people free their cars. I have worked my way up to pickup trucks and big SUVs by myself. Because I am so big and strong, a bus driver joked with me asking if I could push a bus out if it got stuck. Not now, but I am growing. I will find out next winter

I hope they get it fixed, so they won't kill that kid. They don't have to worry about him becoming a horse like I did since he is on the frail side. I don't mind pushing a car out, as long as I don't kill myself doing it, but since it is getting easier, and this sounds crazy, but a couple of times, I had to do this barefoot because my shoes wouldn't grip. I learned then I was a lot stronger than originally thought. Shoveling is good for exercise, but I have too much energy. I would shovel half a block in freezing cold weather, before I would get tired, and not know when to quit. I am not human.

lol! That is a good hobby to have. It is good you are able to help so many people out. Shoveling snow is good exercise if you are in good shape.
Now that you have moved, they will probably get the blower fixed!

Wrong audience.
But I suppose if I lived in a cold place and if I couldn't get the snowblower started and I had nobody to call, I'd just stay home. What else can you do?

I think you've been misinformed!
But Sacramento is on pretty stable ground. Just stay away from SF and LA! :D

Sigh. California is beginning to sound inviting! No snow, earthquakes, mudslides, no snow shoveling, no wading through snow, no ice, mudslides, earthquakes............ I think I will stay here with my shovel! At least the ground is steady!

Before last year I'd never seen snow build up on a sidewalk. So when I was a kid it was like, "Shovel snow off the sidewalk? But... why would you need to?" This year, last week because of the storm, the sidewalk vanished beneath the piles of snow. It was crazy. But we didn't shovel the sidewalks, and we don't have a snowblower. (My parents actually think it's funny that they sold their snowblower when they moved south.) We just walked through the snow. If we went out at all. Probably not the safest thing... but at least it all melted pretty quick.

lol! Well, at least you live in the south where it will melt fast. Usually we have many warm days. After it snows, maybe a few days later, it gets warm enough to melt the snow and make a slushy mess. Then it freezes. It does not get hot, but warm enough to melt off the snow, above 32f. This year has been different. It has been very cold consistently, and the snow has not melted.

Most of the snow has melted, but we've been forecast for another ice storm. Oh boy, I hope it doesn't last too long. I have school projects that I need to do in order to pass for the semester, and I need the campus to be open to work on them (Need the school resources!). It's already been a nightmare this past week. It's been pretty cold, but not so horrible that I can't stand it. It's supposed to warm up fast afterwards, so hopefully it won't be as bad.

Today we hit -1F. That is one degree below zero! I have to go out today. The sky is deceiving because the sun is out and warming my room through the window.
I hope you do not get the ice storm. Those are terrible!

You are a flower just like me, so you should not be out in the snow as it is not good for us ... we tend to freeze and our petals fall off!
Seriously, I have been in a similar situation, although it was not with a snowblower. I could not get the push lawn mower to work to trim around the trees and lights nor could I get the line trimmer to start. I had to call up my ex-husband and have him come over and show me how to work them as there were "tricks" to using both of them and you couldn't just pull the cord and have them start. He was laughing at me the whole time, but at least he came over and helped me.

My leaves are turning brown and my petals are just not the same. I am wilting, you are correct! The outside in the cold is no place for a flower.
I hate tricks to start anything. At least you are able to use them now without assistance. I will never be able to pull that cord myself to make the snowblower start.

Well, you should be glad your friend is there to help out. For me, I won't know, but I would do it with my parents. What other choice do I have. So, where do you live? Boston or Chicago somewhere up north? I heard the snow is up to your knee high. I hope it will get better sooner and later.

I'm only in MO and had snow to my knees when I shoveled a path to the mail box.

Yes, I am soooo very grateful for him. I live in Mi. Usually we do not see this kind of snow, but this has been a very strange year.
