mou : it`s OK if Madrid only get the second position

Heh, this is sort of funny, at least seen from the outside. I don't think it was ever OK for Madrid to be second, in anything, they're always the team that fights for the first position. I don't know why Mourinho would say something like that, but I bet it was painful for him too just to say it, and the fans must be very unhappy right now.

This statement is meant to get the pressure off the shoulders of his players. But being a so well paid trainer and having so many highly remunerated players who were bought with lots of money this is not acceptable, especially knowing that Real fans hate to loose to Barcelona. If Real won't win the Spanish Cup and the Champions League neither then I think that Mourinho will be sacked.

maybe he see that the quality of the player can't beat or can't win the league. or he is too pessimist that he can't train the player to be number one . but whatever the result is he should not say that.

Well, that's Mourinho. He will come up every time with something different and keep the media engrossed. But he is a very intelligent manager and a smart tactician. He knows well what he is doing and about the impact.He can handle big name players with ease which is not at all easy. If he made such statement, he must have done so to have some impact on players or maybe Barca players. You never know. He never does anything without purpose.

He said it because he knows that Barcelona is a very strong team, and they win most of their games. Mourinho just thinks it's important that the team keep fighting, and go for the victory in every matches. He don't want to give barcelona the title, but he will give them challenge to the end. Mourinho has always said that he don't promise to win the first season, but the second season is the best one.

I think he said it because he doesnt think barcelona will slip up. I doubt they will they have almost the same squad from last year and they know how to win/play in big games.

Actually I am equally shocked if Mourinho made that statement. It is so unlike him to throw in the towel. Or maybe this is a smoke screen to mount the real challenge on Barcelona. I would wait till the season is over before I would pass a statement on him. During his time in England, Mourinho made many surprising statements, though this one is more surprising than any other of his statements. Cheers! Ram

It's not ok for Madrid to finish second, especially as Barca will finish top for the 3rd season in a row.I also don't think the Madrid fans be happy that Barca are top, or that Barca are so much better than Madrid. But Mourinho is a master of psychology, Nothing he says is ever black and white, there is always a hidden agenda, whether this is to try and take the pressure of Madrid and put more pressure on Barca I'm not sure. It could also mean that he thinks he can't compete with Barca and is looking for an easy way out. So by becoming unpopular, it'll be easier for Madrid to get rid off him. Mourinho is a very complex man, but I guarentee that somehow he will come out of the situation with his reputation unharmed, and into another top job in europe

This is definitely not Mourinho. Coming from a person who had previously said that is nothing for being second, this is so surreal. It clearly shows that Mourinho is seeking to leave Real Madrid and is not giving his best now.
