Why people still pay high price for cable and satellite?

Maybe I am poor, and I have to save every penny I got. At the same time, if I want entertainment, I won't go for Cable or Satellite because they are over $30 per month at least. Why not go for netflix, or other online video streaming services? They got the newest release movies; TV episodes, and other categories too. For merely $8 per month in netflix. I think majority of us already have DSL service connection right, and that is the best option to save money from those high price television service providers.

yes, here you do not pay huge mount if you just watch the channels in analogue tier, however, if you want to enjoy much more channels in digital basic package, you have to pay much more per month. Actually , for me, one computer and access to internet are enough for me to make recreations. to subscribe a cable's package is a waste of time and money.
ps could you explain to me what you meant "netfix". What is it??

Netflix is a company that offers movies for a low fee every month. They are responsible for putting Blockbuster out of business. It is more convenient to order the movies through the internet than it is to get them from the store and drop them off.

YEs, I don't get why people spend so much just t be entertained. You don't even really need electricity to be entertained. you can just have a god chat with your family, or play some sports.

Yes, stanley777, i agree with you all the way. We shouldn't let the boob tube Lord over us just to be entertained. Chatting with the family, playing sports and in addition, reading , cooking and creating other hobbies could entertain us already.
But i guess, those are moneyed people, so they don't care how much it cost them to have cables anyway.

I shut my Dish Network off last month and bought a Roku box. Now I stream internet tv through the wireless receiver in the Roku. I signed up for Netflix and Huly Plus so my bill went from 75 per month to 15 per month. I should have done it long ago!

Hi Friend, its true that the cable prices are high. off course saving money has become so difficult now a days. every penny costs.
the idea of watching movies and tv episodes are great. we can do that instead of paying such a huge amount.
most of the people work in software companies which pay them very high salary. they dont look about the bill of cable and satellite as they are getting paid huge.
so because of such people we midel class people struggle a lot.
i am little delouse about the software employees, they just give the effort of their mind and get paid so nice. but some of the real workers never see such amount. is not that really matters. the only way is LORD. no one can change the system what is running now. God must do something.
God Bless.

We used to get movies from Netflix but we cancelled our service with them. We used them for about 3 years. We then decided to get our cable back because there are many shows on there that we like to watch that you cannot watch on videos from Netflix. We hardly have the time to sit and watch alot of movies that are 2 hours long anyway. We like to watch the one hour episodes most usually.

Yes, I think that is very practical. We should think of cheaper alternative which will give us the same service. I have a DSL connection but I never subscribe to Cable. I can just maximize the use of my internet and enjoy the same benefits as cable users do. In this expensive world we should be wise in spending and we can always find ways to economize

I would not have cable or satellite if I had to pay for it. My friend pays it, so I have it and am a bit spoiled from it. He recently switched from cable to satellite, and the bill is under 80 bucks.
i remember when cable first came out, with the limited channels it was about 3 dollars, then it went up to 8. Now, it is so expensive AND they have so many of those darned info mercials on. It really ticks me off. The tv channels are paid for, yet we have to flip through many channels to find one without a commercial. Cable was supposed to do away with the commercials, that is why they charged. Now, it should be free because I know they are making a good penny off the long commercials, not to mention the normal ones.

In my case, it's because the only person watching television in our house is my grandfather, who only wants to watch local news and talk-shows (he can't watch anything in a foreign language anyway, his eyes are not very good anymore and he can't read the subtitles).
But I agree with you, the bill for cable is insane, at least where I live. It's about five times what I pay for the Internet bill - and it was the cheapest option they had. In my humble opinion, it's not even worth five times less than the Internet bill.
