I wanted to let you know about my experience with Sadie's diet. I changed her dry food, used the same brand but changed to type to one called natural, I read the ingredents and found that it had more meat, but it was a very samll change. Well about 2 weeks into this diet I noticed she had much more body order, at first I just thought she had rolled in something and gave her a bath, (which she hated) but the fact that she smelled the next day and I knew she hadn't gotten into anything I started thinking about what changes she had been exposed to. All I could come up with was this change in diet. Needless to say the smell was coming from her body trying to get rid of excess protein. Have you found this true with your dogs if you change their diets?

The smell of my dog mostly comes out his behind! His body as a whole rarely changes when I change his food but the smells coming out of it certainly do! Dogs are the same as us--have you ever been around someone who eats garlic? You can smell it on them, icky...same with dogs, what they eat is how they smell!

Our dog get digestive enzymes and this takes care of most gas problems it also means she had little or no body odor. but this new food doesn't seem to be controlable in this fashion. We are going back to the old stuff.

Actually, the only change that I've ever noticed with any of the dogs that we've had when we changed their diet was just with one of the dogs and she has intestinal issues to start with so the new food just didn't agree with her system. It ended up giving her the runs. That said, we decided that because of the fact that her intestinal system is so picky that we really couldn't have her at our house. We sent her back to live with my mother (she's actually a friend's dog).

I usually cook for my dogs and doesn't feed them canned dog foods. Well, we don't have too many choices of dog foods here so my dogs can only taste local prepared foods. They do have strong body odor sometimes but I never suspect it was from the food they ate. Since I don't bath my dogs everyday, I thought when they smell it is time for another bath.

My Australian sheep dog was very happy with his dry dog food, and never seemed to get tired of it. I fed him all he could eat once a day, and never left food in his bowl. He was always in good condition, with a glossy coat.Occasionally the Co-op store would be temporarily out of his brand so I would buy a cheaper product. I always had to smile when he dived into his bowl, took one bite of the cheaper meal and then look up at me with that hang-dog stare, asking me why I fed him this inferior food?

I also just changed my dogs dry food from Kibbles n Bits to the Natural food from Racheal Ray and actually i found him to be doing better and not having an oder come from his behind area. Hes doing alot better and actaully really likes his food and doesnt siffer through it jsut to et certain things and likes every thing in it so im glad that i changed and he seems to be doing better and i give him a half a can of wet food at night that he likes and i buy different ones of that all the time as well and he doenst seem to matter what king i get as long as it is not beneful since he throwsup after eating that. Hope the smells goes away soon for you. Happy mylotting.

I think thats pretty common, changes in their stool after a change in their diet. You never really know whats going to happen. I keep seeing that commercial on tv about the brand you can compare other dog food labels too, and i investigated. They really do have a super nutritious healthy food for dogs, and they weren't joking about some of the gunk that the other well known brands put into their dog food. I cant remember the name of the food, the brand, but maybe I will think of it later. I do know that like pedigree and some other well known brands put a lot of stuff into their foods that you wouldnt expect and really isnt too great for dogs. It really suprised me.
