Dodgy Job Offers

Has anyone came across a very weird unusual job offer that approached you unexpectedly. I was asked by a certain well dressed man while I was working one day and he asked me "How much do you earn?" He told me he worked in telecommunications and he earns up to 6 figures monthly. Then he asked me "Are you able to think outside the box?". He said "There are people being targeted and they are unaware of it." I was a bit confused at first with everything. Then I just assumed this has got to be too good to be true. He provided me a cell phone number and a his name ... which seems to me doesn't really fit his ethnicity. So I asked him why would he be interested in offering me this opportunity. He replied its because of my ethnicity. I thanked him and he was off.(In his car) I later threw away the note he gave me.

I was at a gas station a couple of years ago when this man approached with a ob offer as well. I asked why he felt any interest in me, and he said I had the outgoing professional look. Although I informed the man at the time that I was an executive at a great company he insisted he could help me with furthering my career. I thanked him and shortly after I pitched his card as I was not in the market for a new job and certainly not one from someone I did not myself research and wonder if it could be valid or not.

yes, often it is quite important to know just what job you are getting yourself into. It seems to me that your offer of employment didn't even try to detail what the job is going to be or how he is going to further you career. General comments such as "oh you have the looks" sound like complete nonsense to me. Great move there... just thought perhaps he was just trying to woo you? Flirt? Court?

At first I thought that was his intention as I found it hard to believe anyone approaches complete strangers with job offers on the street. He did have what I believed to be a professional business card but I though nawh, I better be careful.. lol.. So I just used my judgment.

I was working as a cashier when I was offered a job in home loans by the customer I was checking out. She handed me an official-looking business card. When I looked at the website listed later on, I found that it was a company that paid commissions for every referral an "employee" got. The main way of making money with it was by referring new employees, not serving customers. Needless to say, I threw out the card at that point. I'm no good at recruiting, and a business that centers around referring other people isn't likely to be successful anyway. The focus should be on serving customers before inviting new employees, IMO.
