i have seen Marley and me long back ,The movie was fabulous i loved every single scene in the movie. one of my friend suggested me the movie "Hachiko a Dog's story" i expected a movie like marley and me but it was entirely different. I know its not fair to compare movies but i found marley and me was much better and well narrated. I Suggested the movie Marley and me to my friend and he saw the movie he felt the opposite. He didn't like Marley and me I feel like you love a movie when u don't expect high :) IS IT SO ???? WHAT DO U THINK ?

I have not seen the Hachiko dog story so I can't comment on that, but I can say that Marley and me was a very good movie, but was very, very sad. It reminded me so much of my dog's last days and it just broke my heart, I cried for like an hour after watching Marley and Me. I probably should not have watched it knowing how hard losing my dog was on me, but it was very good.

You are correct...it is NOT fair to compare these 2 movies as they are NOTHING alike!!! Much like your friend, I didn't enjoy Marley & Me that much. I found it be just so-so. Even though it made me cry, I loved Hachiko. As a matter of fact, I purchased a copy of Hachiko so I can watch it over & over. I found watching Marley & Me once was twice too often!!!

You don't have to sell me on how wonderful our pets are!!! I have 3 dogs & 2 cats & they are my children!!! I rented Hachiko because I love Richard Gere. I knew NOTHING about the movie. After watching the movie was when I read about it being a true story. That is when I bought it so I could watch it again!!! I totally expect to cry again even though I know what will be coming. It is a well put together movie & I love the way they look at things from the dog's perspective!!! I agree that there should be MORE movies like this one!!!!

Yeah, I believe it's like that on different areas of our lives, not just movies. If you're expecting something big, you're more likely to be disappointed than be impressed and vice versa. I expected x2 (x-men part 2) to kick @ss but I was disappointed after seeing it.

I have seen both, and I prefer Hachiko actually. But you are right, they are very different movies indeed, so it is kind of hard to compare the two.

I've seen Marley and Me, yes a long time ago and as I remember I don't like it. Well, it's different with Hachiko, I love it. Maybe you prefer Marley and Me because Hachiko's ending was very sad, but it was based on real story of that loyal dog.

I love Marley and Me and Hachiko! They both make my all-time-favorite-movies list. :) I agree that it's not fair to compare movies and I wouldn't say that I like one over the other. I actually like both movies without comparing them because they attacked the pet lovers theme differently. Marley and Me is a story about the bond of love between a pet and its master while Hachiko is a story about a pet's loyalty to its master. Both movies made me cry like crazy and I will always hold them close to my heart. :)

Hello there! I have just watched Hachiko a Dog's story at youtube. At first i think it was a boring short film, but as the story goes, it interest me already. It's a true story. It made me really cry I think i like it more than Marley and Me, even if i havent watched Marley and Me yet.

Marley and me... I remember this movie. I watched it at home with my husband. I thought this movie was funny before I watched it then when I was watching, I realize Marley was gonna leave towards the end so I quit watching right at the end when Marley started get sick... I hate seeing sad dog die story... I have a yellow labrador as well so the feeling is even stronger. One thing in the movie is they had numbers of different yellow labrador to role Marley and it was very easy to tell they are all different yellow lab in the movie, I thought it was a flaw.

I love both movies! The mood of the movies are a bit different but both showed dog's true loyalty to their owners. Also both movies made me cry. When I watch movies, I really don't expect much from them as to avoid frustrations/disappointments but as we all know it's really inevitable that we sometimes get frustrated. Oh well, that's what entertainment is all about, give us different emotions or reactions based on what we see.
