I started reading James Patterson last year with "Cat & Mouse", the 4th novel in the Alex Cross series because the first three novels were always checked out at my library . Since then I have read all but "Jack & Jill" (which I am reading now), "Violets are Blue", "Mary Mary", "I, Alex Cross", "and "Cross Fire". I love them all! I have also read most of his other books as well... Are there any that are a favorite for you, if so which one and why?

I enjoy all of James Patterson's books but am particularly fond of his Women's Murder Series. I was sad when I finished it and couldn't wait for his latest addition to that series to hit the shelves. Unfortunately it has been checked out ever since it hit our library and I am like 20th on the list or something like that. I am in the middle of the Alex Cross series right now. Just finished MaryMary and really enjoyed it. I do hope that Alex ultimately finds a nice woman and settles down! Ha! I sound like his Nana Mama don't I?!

I must say, I am also a fan of his for quite a while already. I have gotten to know about him through my mom, who once bought a copy of "The Beach Road" and gotten hooked with it and with his works, as well. It was almost a decade ago, or so. I only came to appreciate his works a few years ago, when I discovered that he wrote a different genre of books, although specializing in suspense-thrillers. I really admire him, even though I have only read a few of his books until now. I like him because of his resilience in his genre as well as his ingenuity in writing mind-boggling stories. As of now, I am reading "Honeymoon."It's one of the three books that a friend sent me when he found out that I am into reading James Patterson. :) I'm planning to buy more of his books, as well, especially when I have to budget to do so. I think it would be all worthy to have my shelves filled up with James Patterson titles. :)

I have read several of James Patterson's novels as light reads. I mean no offense to Mr. Patterson or his audience. But his books are easy to read and follow. He's to the point writer, not too much hidden meanings. I read so many books that are like that (hidden meanings) and novels that are quick for me to read. One of my favorite Patterson novels is Cross Country where Alex Cross goes to Africa and realizes the genocide going on in Darfur.

Yay, I am glad you started this discussion, although it was forever ago! I am just getting into his "1st to die", "2nd chance", etc etc series - I think it's called the "Womens Murder Club" - I LOVE THEM!!! I am on number 6 and I have only started reading them a month ago or so. I am totally engrossed. I haven't read any of the Alex Cross ones yet, but that is next on my to do list after I finish this book. I'm so glad I started reading James Patterson - he is AWESOME! Plus I love the character interactions - the people's personal lives, inner demons, etc. It's just totally engrossing. Other than that I have read a few other books by him --- "The Honeymooners" (I think it was called), "The Midnight Club", and a few others I can't think of at the moment. So far the Womens Murder Club series is my favorite though!

Just like you, Cat & Mouse is my first Patterson book. I discovered him when I watched the movie Along Came a Spider, and found out it was from a book. I loved Cat & Mouse, probably my favorite in his Alex Cross series. Aside from his Alex Cross series, I also follow the Women's Murder Club and Michael Bennet series. I think The Bennett series is my new favorite. I have the first 3 Daniel X books in my shelf but haven't read them. I am avoiding the Max series. I heard it was inspired by When the Wind Blows, which I love, but not necessarily a sequel. I don't want to be confused so I don't read the Max series. I also saw from his list that he has a Witch/Wizard series. I try to avoid that as well, since I think he's just riding on the Harry Potter bandwagon. I try to read his stand-alone novels though. I don't read romance novels much, but I have an excuse to read one if it's by James Patterson. I agree that his books are not too deep but it's why I read his books. Lately I don't have much free time and his books are a good, quick escape from the stresses of real life.
