For me it is a credit card because I always pay the full amount each month. I have never paid a single penny of interest on a credit card. With a credit card you have a limit of what you are liable for if it is stolen which is not the case with a debit card. With a credit you have close to 30 days to pay while with a debit card it comes out of your bank account immediately. With a credit card you can earn cash back which I don't think is the case with a debit card. It just boils down to common sense and whether you are capable of living within in means.

I prefer credit cards. I feel envious to my big sister who has credit cards because she can buy whatever she wants. Whereas to a debit, you can run out of money and it's quite embarrassing if you're in the counter and it exceeds your balance.LOL.

It is definitely better to use a debit card. The debit card takes money directly out of your checking account to cover the cost of the purchase when you use the card. There are no interest charges or monthly payments to worry about. This is certainly NOT the case with credit cards. Here in America, it is not uncommon to find credit cards with interest rates as high as 20-30%. Credit card companies have mastered the art of trapping people in high-interest debt for as long as possible. I currently have credit card debt that I am struggling to pay off. However, once I get this debt taken care of, I am not going to use credit cards anymore. I have one card that I am going to keep, but I am getting rid of the rest. The card that I am going to keep has $1,000 credit limit on it, so I will have to be very careful about how I use it.
If I were in a position to make the laws, I would limit the interest rate a credit card ompany could charge to 10%. I would limit the interest rates that companies could charge for home loans to 5%, and I would limit the amount that companies could charge for a car loan to 6%. This would enable people to pay off their credit debts A LOT faster, and enable them to start keeping more of their own money.

Yes, unfortunately you are correct. It would be almost impossible to drop these interest rates to these levels very quickly, especially since these companies are used to having this money to spend. However, it WOULD be possible to do this reduction over the course of several months, and to do it in stages that would eventually get them to the levels I mentioned. This would give the companies time to adjust their operating expenses so that they could operate with the income they would have once the changes were made...

it depends for your habits and even monthly expenses..so credit card normally is comfortable and used for exmpesive goods or services surely in relation to a debit card is less safe because on debit you should have a limited amount of money on the contrary the credit card is based on your bank account so if you consider a stole of your card better if it is a debit one!!

I usually just paid in cash but when I do use a card, I use my debit card. I like using my debit card because it is still using my own money and there's no interest on the purchases I make unlike a credit card. It's very convenient and I use it to buy groceries and books. I've heard horror stories where people didn't have enough money in the bank when using a debit card and suffered from a very heavy fee, I'll just have to be very careful.

I think that debit cards are better too. Especially the way that the economy is now. I know a lot of people that have got in way over their head using credit. I think that credit is ok if it is used in moderation or just to build it, but it is very easy to get carried away.

There are pros and cons to each of those.
Credit cards have a somewhat high limit. However, you will have to pay it off eventually later, and at times with interest.
Debit cards are charged by yourself. They only have as much as you put onto it. There is no payback with interest.
I would say that debit cards are overall better. The problem with typical, ordinary, everyday people is that they like to pay off their debit slowly. This means that they will have interest added. They will pay plenty more than they wanted to were they to pay it off immediately.
However, if you pay off your credit card bills immediately, good for you. No problem with credit cards then.
If you are that type of person, go for credit cards. However, if you are the average, typical, everyday person, you should go for the debit card. Never spend more than what you have.

Hey, sure, no problem. It's always nice to help people.
I also recently found out from my friend that both credit cards and debit cards can be used to verify paypal accounts. It is easier to use a debit card, because you can check the status online. Credit cards require mailing, which takes much longer.
I thought it would be nice to share.
Anyway, live life with no regrets!

I like using the debit card versus the credit card. Debit card you have the money already so you aren't going to have to pay $1000 for something that you paid $100 or more. It seems like it takes for ever to pay for something that you buy with a credit card even if it isn't something that was very expensive.
