What are your views about wearing colored wedding dresses?
Although it is up to bride, personally if I was getting married, I would not wear colored wedding dresses. Why? Because, what if I picked out a stunning purple wedding gown and my guest wears purple! I would want to be center of attention, not be one of the guests. I feel that white/cream/ivory is the tradition of weddings and I would like to continue it.
How about you?
Would you wear colored wedding dresses or would you want your significant other to wear colored wedding dresses? Why or why not??

I wore a red wedding dress that I designed myself, a tiara, and had a big bouquet of flowers. There was no problem with people being mistaken for me. LOL Besides, everyone I knew knew that i wanted to wear a red dress on my wedding day.

A white, cream or ivory wedding dress is more appropriate for me because it looks classy and solemn. Though, I would appreciate a soft bright shade of colors on others especially if the chosen color would blend effectively on the personality or aura of a bride.

I think I would like a white wedding dress and wearing other color dresses in the nanqet dinner. I think the bridal wedding dress is supposed to be white which simbolized purity.

I think it's really upto the bride, it's her wedding anyways, and she can do whatever she wants. I wanted to have a white dress with black accents, but I also wanted to have breakfast wedding so I guess black would not be an option. HEhehe. Maybe a little yellow or green on the dress would be cute.

I like your idea about being the centre of attention. After all a wedding is the day of that couple, and everyone's supposed to be celebrating them.
I have never thought about wedding dresses and such, but I guess I wouldn't really mind the colour. What I would mind is the design. I hate those kind of dresses that make you look like a giant cream puff

I think all the brides- and you, should wear what dress they would want to wear. It's your day. But it does not really matter what dress you wear, what color, or where the venue is..as long as you are with the people you love. May you have a happy marriage.

Me too. I want a wedding dress that stands out, not only in design but also in color. My wedding dress was off-white/cream. I really like it coz the color itself is very elegant, matched with the design. I think that being able to stand out is one of the reasons why the wedding dress should be white, and of course the main reason that it represents purity of heart and love for your husband ^^

Thanks for sharing & yes I agree :) True fact, not the color of dress you marry, the one you love.

I don't really have a strong opinion abut them. It really just depends on what the bride would like to wear, it's her wedding anyway. As long as she is happy with it, we should respect her decision. Your dress would still stand out if it was paired with a nice tiara, I think. Good luck

I am not a mainstream person so i would have defenitly want my dress to be colorfull.
you can always ask the people to come to your wedding wearing just white if you really want to stand out in the crowd with your colorfull wedding dress.
anyway, i can find a special colorfull wedding dress that will surely stand out even if the crowd won't wear only white, you just have to find the right gorgeus dress.

I am not really particular about wedding dresses, well maybe because I only had a simple wedding. I wore a simple dress, color brown. And same w/ my husband he wore a brown pinstripe polo.
White would be the traditional color for wedding dresses, but yes still depends to the bride.

I am perfectly OK with colored wedding dresses or the traditional white wedding dresses. I've seen pictures of some really gorgeous colored wedding dresses that I would someday want to wear in my wedding :D but who knows later I might change my mind and go the traditional way ..

I have a friend who picked out a black and red wedding dress. When I first heard it, I was, of course horrified, but finally when I saw her walking down the aisle, I was blown away. Its not the dress, its about being happy and she was so radiant with her happiness that day.

Personally I still prefer an ivory colored dress on the wedding day because it is more pleasing and more simple. It is more attuned to the occasion and go with the solemnity of the ceremony. I often viewed a colored wedding dress as disrespectful to the holiness of the matrimonial ceremony. But lots of brides now are wearing a colored dress for their wedding, well, it is their prerogative.

it will really depend on the bride's preference.I've seen some brides wear colorful gowns.usually when the bride's gown is colored the entourage's clothes are simpler and in neutral colors like white or beige.this is to let all the attention fall on the bride.she will not be upstaged.if I get married,I would love to wear a pale blue gown.

The wedding day is the groom's and especially the bride's moment. They should be the ones to stand out. But, I do not have anything against colored dresses. If the couple prefer to wear colored ones then so be it.
I'd rather see a beautiful bride in a not traditional gown than someone wearing what is traditional but feeling uncomfortable and not so happy about it.
Besides, we are already in the 22nd century. I've seen wedding gowns in fashion shows by top designers which are colored and yet the bride looks stunning.
I think color has nothing to do with the wedding vows. Matter of fact,I wonder what's in a color, anyway.

I personally like the wedding dresses with splashes of colors, or have color accents. One of my favorite wedding dresses of all time is Gwen Stefani's (from No Doubt). Her dress was white on top then it bled into hot pink at the bottom. It was unique and really fit her personality. I don't think I could get married in a dress that was completely colored unless it was really outstanding/unique so it will still stand out.
Happy mylotting.

Thanks for sharing & yeah dresses with color accents are nice but I don't think I could get married in a solid color though w/out any white.

Wedding dresses today have evolved in so many different styles and colors. I do like some color but not a solid one for a wedding dress. I like white, peach, cream and off white. I would not mind something pastel.
It really is a matter of preference as I have seen some wedding pictures with women in solid colors and it was beautiful, I suppose it would depend on the style and the off-set of the bridesmaids dresses also.

Yeah, they are beauitful in all color but not for me. I think white/cream/off white with a little splash of color would do.

I agree with your idea that wearing white separates the bride from the guests. Recently, a famous movie star in my country wore a red gown for her wedding, and that started people to think about wearing wedding dress of different color. Personally, I would still chose white or ivory with accent, for example the 'belt' would be baby blue or something or the embroidery is of light pink color.

Thanks for sharing and yup, white with a little accent of color is nice but I don't think I'd ever do a solid dress even though some people are.
