Would you consider this?

One of my favorite meals to prepare is chicken noodle soup. Problem is that my significant other and friends say that the way i prepare my chicken noodle soup is not really cooking. I take a breast from a whole chicken and clean it well removing the skin and any bones. I chop into small dices and boil until cooked. Then I add mixed vegetables and an envelope of Lipton chicken noodle soup. I also add sazon, which comes in small packets that have different spices. I cook a bit of white rice on the side then serve bowl of soup with a spoonful of white rice. My friends say that since Lipton seasons the soup, it is their recipe and so I am not really cooking and only heating up Lipton soup. What do you think? Would you consider something similar or would you simply make soup from scratch?

Hi ptower,
Firstly I do know what Sazon is as I am Puerto Rico and it is a must in my home. LOL, Soup can basically be made in many different ways. Since you are adding the chicken and veggies and flavorings, who is to say it is not real soup. I do not use the Lipton Soup, but why not it is like as if you were adding Chicken broth. I do see how it brings yet more robust chicken flavor to it.
Hand me your address next time you are making the soup and I will not critic but thank you kindly.. kidding. Keep it up sounds wonderful.

Yeah, Sazon con culantro y achoite is a must in my home since it became available on the mainland. Wasn't around when I was growing up. Everything was done from scratch. Puerto Ricans growing up 50 years ago did not have it like hispanos today. A lot of my recipes are a blend of both worlds. For example, pizza with adobe sprinkled on or meat loaf with sofrito squeezed in. lol And of course, one of our traditions is hospitality and of course you are welcome to share.

Sounds delicious to me! If I was the cook, and somebody told me I was not really cooking I would tell them in no uncertain terms,- "Ok you don't have to eat it! Go Home and make your own soup any way you want it! Just don't come here and expect me to make chicken soup for you!"
