Ah, I see it. He is your daughter's son. Well, they say that kids take after the brains of their mom. So, if he takes after his mom, and she takes after you, then, yep, I'll say he got it from you. My logic is impeccable!

If he really is a gifted child then you should have his counseling done as soon as possible. There are children who have extremely low IQ level and they need guidance because they are often unable to take smart decisions. On the other hand, there are children who have extraordinary IQ and they need extra care because if they wrongly apply their smartness anywhere, they may actually ruin their future. The rest of us who have average IQ can do well even without a counseling. But it is a real necessity for people who have extreme levels of IQ, in both ways. A careful deliberation will reveal to you how risky smartness can be. Since your grandson has been declared 'academically gifted' it entails a lot of care and guidance throughout his life.

Hi getbisa, the thing that bothers me about my grandson is, because he is so smart he does tend to let one know they're not and that troubles me. Is that one of the areas you mention he may need counseling with? he needs to learn that everybody is different...thanks for your post :)

Oh wow I think talking to you will be very intimidating and I hate feeling that way. I never thought of myself as being smart altho i'm told I am. I would like to learn more of how you think it's very interesting. My grandson is only 8 but he makes me feel so dumb at times. not because he says I am but because for an 8 year old he teaches me things that I could never grasp onto before, like the internet.
