Yes, this is the only thing that I feel, everything else is just going my way. I feel good about my work and profile. Access is not a big deal as I hardly get time do anything else other than my work. Thank You for sharing.

Hi Ajay My younger son joined a new company recently, he has the same problem in office internet, i think it is a good step taken by companies, many waste time there and neglet the basic work for which they are paid.. Thanks for sharing Cheers. God bless you, have a nice day ahead. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. .

I hated that when I was working at the bank; they make sure you don't check on your personal things like email, facebook websites like this... Only certain levels in the company can get that access. When I was at the other job, I wa able to access anything at work, I was a secretary, so pretty much all I havae to do is makin gappointments for my boss and hosting meetings etc. I did a lot of internet surfing when my boss was out

banks will never allow anything other than their own sites which is logical so no surprise there. Thank You for sharing.

Yeah, my company now doesn't allow much Internet access, though I understand why because of the security risk and threats in the internet. Though I'm happy to say that Mylot is not yet blocked (no spyware, malware or anything!).. But other sites are blocked so I stick to mylot when I am at the office during lunch breaks or before I start working if it's still early.

yes, this is all implemented because of security reasons which is valid in terms of business. Thank You for sharing.

Woah, no mylot, no gmail,no yahoo...that's pretty sad. Well, then what's the use of internet in the office. Give a suggestion to your boss to disconnect the internet of office as it would save some money of him. I mean that most of the people have their email ids on gmail or yahoo. And most of their clientele/mates/friends knows the gmail or yahoo id with whom they deal/interacted earlier. So, if someone send you some official info your formal email id(or i would say the id which you used for so many years), how would you retrieve that. Again went through hassles.Set up account configurations and forward mails to new account. So, a trick for you. Try proxy servers to open the site you wish to browse. Or ask your system admin to revise the list of blocked sites and atleast allow the necessary ones like yahoomail or gmail.

That is really sad but now I have accepted it as it is. I know that it can not be changed so better to accept that. I tried proxy and other but still no luck. Thank You for sharing.

I think that company simply screened these sites to avoid employees from goofing off through the internet. I think it is just right, as when one is in work, he should be paying attention to office matters, and not personal matters. After all, the employee is being paid for his time.

They have got a list of websites that should not be allowed to any resource inside the network and that is the reason not able to access anything unrelated to work. Thank You for sharing.

That's too bad,but in my company all of them are also forbidden. Bosses hope their employee work hard and no any entertainment during working time. Another thing is to prevent virus.

I think I would find that very frustrating. You should be able to access personal sites during work breaks. I know some companies are worried you might try to access inappropriate sites during working hours, but if you are on a break, you should be able to access at least your personal email. Is there a way you can discuss this with your employer and find out what their reason is? If they are worried about security, it is understandable. What do the policies of the company state about internet access? Good luck with this!

I do not want to discuss this issue with network guys because it is not allowed so there is no point. I spend time on mylot from home and that seems to be enough. Thank You for sharing.
