Long time Utah Jazz Coach Jerry Sloan resigns as coach of the Utah Jazz! This happened after he had a disagreement with all-star Deron Williams. The longest tenured coach in any Major Sport League in the US who coached the Jazz for 23 Seasons resigned after his decision to suspend Williams was apparently blocked by the General Manager of the Jazz Kevin O'conner. It is a sad day when a good coach is booted out of a team because the team chooses its star over loyalty to a coach who has been loyal for more than two decades to the team. NBA player egos have just been given a boost! *sigh*

Hopefully his years of loyalty and dedication will pay off in the end as perhaps something better will come for him, no??

It would be hard to see him coach a different team, but yeah, he would have many suitors, but they would have a hard time convincing him to coach their team. Most of the good teams have good coaches these days. I wonder how the new coach (Ty Corbin) would handle his star's ego though?

Most new ones come in agreeing and going strictly by the rules but as soon as they warm up they get a bit way too over the top. LOL.

Indeed. Few can handle success, fewer still in the NBA where more than a majority of the players are part of a cinderalla, rags to riches story...*sigh*

NBA is all about business. It is easier t sell an all-star player than a Hall of Famed coach.

Indeed it is easier to get the crown in the arena with a blake griffin compared to a larry brown! But interestingly, the Jazz traded williams to the NEts! wow!

There is a saying in China, all good things come to an end!

True, nothing lasts forever after all right? Too bad for the Jazz though, they just lost one of the great coaches in the NBA and in 2012 they would lose their point guard in free agency... that long awaited losing for the Jazz might just be around the corner...

23 years tenure is too long to a team. Jazz need a new coach to bring new livingness and energy. You can't blame the GM too much, 23 years tenure has proved they are not harden towards Jerry Sloan. After all, he didn't bring one champion to the Utah, and we can't see any possibility in the nearly future if he stick with coach.

True, he didn't win a championship, but his ability cannot be questioned. When he had the right players he was able to bring his team to the finals, but was thwarted by a guy named Michael Jordan Twice! Well, we disagree on the GM thing, now that everyone sees Deron as the guy who booted out Sloan from Utah, Deron would most likely change teams, otherwise he's only legacy would be kicking out an institution out of the Jazz. After Malone and Stockton retired, everyone thought that with the personnel the Jazz had they would be in the cellar, but Sloan was able to bring out the best in his team and made the playoffs. Utah had only one losing season in 23 years and Sloans teams were always over-achieveing by NBA standards. That is a mark of greatness.
