Why do people love to get into credit card debt?

Being a slave to monthly payments seems crazy to me now, I use to be just like everyone else! Paying minimum payments just trying to keep my head above water was a way of life from age 18 to 25. One day I got sick and tired of giving away so much of my money in interest payments. I started paying off my debts by taking on odd jobs, and after 2 years I was finally free of credit card payments. What have you done to get out of credit card debt?

It is great when you have no real Credit Card debt, etc. and all you have is a Car payment, and either Rent or a mortgage to deal with. Right now it would be nice to be like that, but some situations have happened Financially to where we are struggling and have had to use our Credit Cards just to help buy Food. I know this too shall pass and things will look up again so we can start making more dents in them once again.

Luckily, I'm 24 and have never been in credit card debt. I pay off my balance automatically from my bank account each month. I think one month the bank messed up and I paid something like 4 dollars extra, but I didn't say anything even though I should have. My siblings are all in credit card debt, but I hate buying things so I'm pretty good. I do have a ton of student loans though.

Quit using them, got rid of them. Still paying on a couple of accounts but making great progress. We had them paid off once then went right back in the hole. I have a prepaid card that I load whenever I have the money to do so. I use it when places insist I have to have a credit card. LOL

It is really hard to get buried in credit card debts. Luckily I have not experienced such a thing coz I've seen what happened to my friends. My principle is, if you don't need it don't buy it. Credit cards are only for emergencies at least that is what I think.

I already cut my credit card in half. My credit card is just another way for us to have money problems. I just use cash on paying for things rather than using credit card.
