Someone tell me some GOOD news! Please!

I've been rather cut off from the world these last few weeks and not really keeping an eye on world news. Yesterday though one of my colleagues bought a newspaper and I have just been idly flicking through it whilst I ate my breakfast.
What a depressing experience!
Every story is negative. Political conflict, economic crisis, man destroying the world around us and each other. It's no wonder that people spend their lives in a state of stress when that's the sort of thing they're absorbing each morning.
It strikes me that there must be positive and happy things happening in the world as well, good news in other words. Good news never seems to be as newsworthy. I guess it just doesn't sell newspapers or convert into viewers.
So what good news have you got that you could tell me about and temper the tide of negativity i fell washing over me today? Is there something positive happening in your country, your town, your community? Perhaps there is good news in your family? Why have you woken up with a smile on your face this morning? It doesn't have to be earth shattering! Just knowing that someone somewhere has woken up where the sky is blue and the birds are singing would be great!

Well after a couple of years of running a business that never went anywhere I'm now getting new enquiries every day AND really enjoying the projects I take on, so that's good news for me!
And I'm not really a morning person but it did make me smile today when I was five minutes late getting up and my little kitten was mewing outside the door because he wanted his breakfast!

I know how you feel, that's why I rarely watch the news. It's so depressing, and it scares me that such terrible things can happen!
So, you want some positive stuff.. well I'm happy to oblige.
I am in a good mood because we've been really smart with our tax returns this year. We actually still have money in our pockets, and we've yet to spend it. If you understood the way we typically behave with money, you'd know that's a really huge deal! Most of what we've spent thus far has been on important items. I bought a van, hubby bought parts to fix his car, I paid for some dental work, we've paid a few bills, and are completely caught up on our current bills. It's a very good feeling!
Today I'm going to the bank to see about opening a couple accounts in my own name, a savings account and a checking account. The checking account in my own name will be for paying off old debts or other unexpected bills. My goal is to 1. never fall behind on our current bills again, and 2. eventually get out of debt so we can buy a house.
Also I got $1,500 for selling my Durango yesterday, and I'm putting all of that towards our cellphone payments, so then we will only have to pay a partial bill each month and won't have to worry about not being able to afford the cellphones.
I am just feeling so positive about our finances! I know I've already talked about it on here.. but right now it's the biggest positive thing that's going on in my life and I'm feeling sort of euphoric about it.

I had a long reply but myLot screwed up and gave me a "bad request" when I hit submit.
Go to happy news dot com to find out what good things happen. Lots of stuff! And you have children and a husband that love you, something that in increasingly rare these days.

Bad news that I don't get to hear the 'long' version, but great news that there's somewhere full of good news!
And it's good news indeed that I have a family to love and be loved by, and every day it's a day sooner that I'll see them again which is also good news!

I'm sorry that you seem to be having such a hard time of it lately John. But please take a step back and look around you for some good news to be positive about. I don't know your personal situation so it's hard to suggest, but perhaps you have a family who's achievements are good news, or know someone who is recovering from illness? Sometimes when we feel really low it's good news just to wake up and find that it's a glorious day or that you haven't run out of milk!
I hope things turn around for you soon.

Interesting.
It seems we have a choice to feel how we wish to feel about what is happening around us ...
During WWII, there have been new businesses that boomed, only because "people were killing one another" .. e.g. munitions plants, fighter aircraft industries etc.
It seems there is always something good in everything, even those which are commonly perceived as bad or evil ...
For instance the popular saying: "two men looked out the window of a prison cell. One say the mud, the other saw the stars."
What do you think ?
