Hello friends,
I just read an article in newspaper which said that sleeping lately and get up early will lead to serious health problems like heart attack and stroke.
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/home/science/Late-to-bed-rising-early-ups-heart-risk/articleshow/7465276.cms
According to the report, going to bed late but waking up early because of the hectic work schedule has become a trend of many of us. Researchers say that sleeping less than 6 hours may invite serious health issues for us.
If 6 hours sleep is enough then I don’t need to worry. I am sleeping six hours. But my brain is telling that I need to sleep more some time.
Yesterday my three year old son recites a poem for me with actions. Early to bed and early to rise makes a child, happy, healthy and wise.
What about you, have you sleep enough time. Please share your experience.

Hiya sreekala,
Well I think that going to bed too late very late and then getting up very early does take it´s toll on your Health. However some seem to be very lucky and nothing really affects them at all even when they are way over sixty odd.
Of which I am glad for them. I myself need a lot of sleep and I know that if I don´t get it and have to get up really early it does take me time to wake up say a couple of hours only joking of course.
These in our House like to sleep a lot too and not too bothered about getting up early which they have to because they go back to sleep for a while in the Afternoons most Days. That is a custom here and I should imagine in a lot of other Hotter Countries to take shelter from the heat too.
I suppose it would be the People that burn the candle at both ends the ones that overdo it at the Weekends for a long time that might just be victims of that sort of thing. Also we have to watch what we eat and drink too all of us. Your little Boy sounds really cute. They are at that age. I would have loved to have seen him. I used to get mine to do things like that too whilst they were still very small.

Hi angel,
I agree some people are forcing to give up their valuable sleep for their work. Actually they do not wish the same but there is no other alternative for them. Now the younger generation is developing the habit of spending sleeping time in internet. They just don’t care about the importance of a good sleep. Once they realize the same then it may be too late.
Little one is also happy to go bed very late but love to sleep more in morning time.
Take care dear. Have a lovely day.

Hiya sreekala,
Some People have to lose a lot of sleep for many different reasons. No they surely wish they could stay in Bed an extra while longer that´s for sure. Yes the younger ones will realize sooner or later that they cannot be online all night and get very little sleep and get up really late in the Mornings too.
Each one of them will settle back to more or less the way they before I think. It takes time for them to realize what they are doing to themselves.
Aha is he asleep late in the Mornings then? I had that too they did not want to get out of Bed ever especially one of them more so than the other. You take care too and have a lovely Week and Weekend if I don´t catch up with you.xxx

I believe this. Lack of sleep is one way to shorten life indeed. A person should have at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep otherwise his health will suffer. As your child recited "early to bed, early to rise makes a child happy, healthy and wise." And may I add that this does not only apply to a child. It applies to everyone, young and old alike.
Nice day to you my friend!

Hi kala,
Thanks God that I have least risk of stroke and all for now I no longer remain awake at night and do not get up early in the morning.
It was my habit just until last year that even if I slept at 2am I would leave my bed at around six for I could not sleep beyond that.
I fell seriously ill since I had my BP going too high and doctors asked me to sleep at least eight hours a day and I am doing that.
I feel comfortable.

Hello Rajib,
You learned the lesson from your experience. I think many of us are doing the same thing, following unhealthy habits but once we face the bitter consequences then we can change the bad habits or follow the right path.
Glad to know that you are following the doctor’s advice. Thanks for sharing. Take care and have a nice day.

Going to bed late and waking up early - that may damage your health just because the sleeping is very important for our health. We have to sleep at least 7 hours per day. I go to bed late and I get up late also. I sleep 8 hours per day.

I am also one of the followers of the proverb "early to bed and early to rise makes a man happy, healthy and wise"recited by your son.Everything has to take some leisure say a computer mechanism,a computer may be hanged due to its busy works and so it should have a leisure. Our nervous system always keeps itself busy for to meet the demands of our body,as per my primary idea, acquired at my H.S(Sc.)level.Infact I am an engineering students having a little knowledge about Medical Science.According to the Experienced ones,a man should have a minimum of rest of 6 hrs to get his nervous system working properly.

I prefer to go to bed at a reasonable time and get around 6 hours sleep, which is more than enough for me.. I have already had a heart attack, but that was nothing to do with the time I went to bed, but more to do with the fact that I have a blood-clotting condition that is more to do with diet. _Derek

I am sorry to know that Derek, I hope you are taking care of your diet etc. Enough sleeping is also important. I think you are a doctor or doing work in medical field (I am not sure whether I remember it correct, if I am wrong please excuse). If so you know it better how to take care of your health after an attack. Please do it.
Take nice care of your health.

Yes they do say that insuffecient sleep leads to heart trouble and obesity. That may be the reason for me putting on a lot of weight. I have now made it a habit of sleeping early at nights and wake up before sunrise.
Here in our city we spend so much of time travelling to work and back home there we have to cover up for our sleep while travelling most of the time!

Hi dear,
How are you?
Yes, I heard that you people need to travel much distance to reach the job place. It means the lion share of your time consumed by traveling. There is nothing wrong if you can sleep in train but be careful too.
Thank you so much and have a nice weekend.

This is very much my situation. Just like now, it is already 12 midnight here in the Philippines and yet I am still so wide awake and I will be damn awake until the wee hour for sure. But despite of that I'm pretty sure that when dawn comes I have to get up (if ever i'll get the chance to hit the sack tonight) because my kids will be awake then and that they need to have their breakfast of which I am the only one who is serving them that.
Yes, I know that I am at risk of getting health issues because of lack of sleep but I'm maybe just so stubborn to sleep. Or perhaps, sleepiness is just so stubborn that it refuses to visit me early or at least on time.

Hello eureka,
My only request is, try to sleep some more time dear. I have kids and I know how important is to take care of them, get up early as they wanted to go to school in time etc. Some responders already confessed that they caught with problem due to lack of sleep and now sleeping enough time. For your kids, you should develop a habit of sleeping more.
Thank you so much for sharing. Have a lovely time.

Aww! I am guilty of sleeping late and rising up early. You know how it is to be a wife and a mother. I have to wake up as early as 3am to prepare breakfast and packed lunch for my husband and kids who go to school and work. And I am always the last to sleep because I have to make sure that everybody is home when I go to bed. And that makes me sleep for only 4 to 5 hours each night. That could be the reason why these past few days, I've been experiencing headache and palpitations. Maybe I should change this habit and have at least a nap of an hour or two in the afternoon. I hope it is counted. Thanks for sharing this and I'll be careful!

Hello junrapmian,
I can clearly understand your situation because I am also a wife and mother. A mother may forget about her own health when taking care of the family, I can’t blame you for that. You are really a great mother and a wife. Just don’t worry, try to take a nap in the after noon, definitely it will count. Thank you so much for sharing your experience.
Have a great weekend.

I wish I could go back to early to bed, early to rise like in my childhood. Now it's more of what you say - late to bed and eartly to rise. I feel it's effect on my body as I'm dizzy most of the time. Mostly, I sleep 6 hours, too, and feel that it is not enough. My best sleep is 7 hours. 8 hours is too much because I'd feel sleepy after an 8 hour sleep.

Unfortunately, yes, it's because of my job. And, that's one the reasons I'm desperate to find a new one. On top of that, my health is really deteriorating because of all the stress that I get at work. I do hope that I'd get better sleep in the coming days because our body really needs sleep to repair itself.

Is that so? I also get around 5-6 hours of sleep. Night time is the only time I can surf the web and here. But of course, i try to sleep as much if there is a chance with 2 kids around, who knows when?

Hello nj,
I know sleep will disturb if small kids are around. I too have kids and I can relate with you very well. If I sleep less time then it won’t matter but if my sleep disturbed in between then I will feel sleepy in the whole day. As I am working I can’t take a nap in afternoon. I won’t spare my sleep for watching tv or surfing in net.
Take care and have a nice time.

Hi Sree!
I try to follow a disciplined routine and I go to bed early and rise early. I firmly believe that at least 7 hours sleep is necessary to recharge ourselves. I believe in the old dictum 'early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise'. I am not claiming that following a disciplined routine has made me wiser or richer , yet I feel that if I get up early in the morning, I am able to finish lots of chores and can go to my office in time. As you know that my 'better half' is also working, so we both get up early on working days to finish the chores. And moreover, one feels 'fresh', when one gets up early in the morning and go for a short morning walk. You can say that for some of us it becomes compulsion also to get up early because our kids go to the school early in the morning..
Have a great evening!

I agree with you that when kids are growing and are not in a position to 'understand' their 'Mummy', then problems can crept in following a disciplined routine. I remember that even when our kids were growing, we tried to go to bed at a fixed time and try to get up early in the morning.

Hello Deepak,
Your kids are grown up and you can be a disciplined person now. When kids are young and don’t understand our problem we have to face the problems and follow up their routines too. I hope my kids will grow up quickly and I can follow a particular routine everyday.
Thank you so much for your detailed reply. Have a nice time.

I think I'm safe, cause I still manages to sleep around 6 to 7 hours a day. I hate the feeling of lack of sleep, that's why I see to it that I have enough sleep at night, or I would catch a power nap during lunch breaks.

Hi!
i know first hand about the consequence about sleeping late and getting up early, I'm 25 years old and i look like 35+, some of the factors about that is because I slept so little since a kid i used to sleep like 4 to 6 hour max in a day and some days i wouldn't even sleep. Besides that I'm always restless and tired, if i want to hang out with family or friends late in a day I'd have to sleep like 2 to 3 hour during the day to be awake and alert in the night!

each person has their own unique "clock" -- meaning sleep hours. i for one know that 6 hours of sleep is ideal for me. lately, i've been practicing going to bed early in order to get up early since i notice that mt=y brain works faster at dawn - for some strange reason. i think as long as you know your body clock - there shouldn't be any problem - but do consult your doctor if you experience anything "off" with your health and body in general.

Hello HotBlaze,
Thanks for the quick response.
I agree, sleeping depends on the habit of a particular person and I used to sleep more than 6 hours. I don’t have any problem if there is no disturbance in my sleep in between. Sometimes my sleep is disturbed as my kids may need something in sleep. If so, (sleep disturbed) then I feel drowsy in day time. Otherwise I am happy with my sleeping time and there are no health issues for me.

i known what you mean....they say you have ti sleep straight -- otherwise, your body cannot repair itself (tissues) and also, it affects your heart.so yeah, best that you have a 6hour rest - straight; or depending oh how much sleep you need =)
