How was your Birthday party when you were a kid? How was the celebration. Compared to the present wherin it is more techie and colorful. My parties had a more Filipino touch. With the palayok and the pabitin. Now I seldom see those in children's party.

All the kid birthday parties that I've attended were still quite similar to the parties when I was a kid. They still have the palayok, the pabitin and some traditional games that we also played when we were kids. The only difference I see is the use of mascots and acrobatic performers. We didn't have those when I was a kid. Oh, and the magic performed today are way better than those done during my childhood days.

I haven't done a kiddie party back then because we don't have the funds for that. I can remember having a sorta birthday party when I was in grade school with my mother's summer students as my visitors and some neighborhood kids. The kids in the neighborhood are only a handful. And my birthday falls in the summer so there are no classes. But there was food then, no foodies for kiddies like now where there are hotdogs on sticks and loot bags and games.
Now, I sometimes attend children's birthday parties with the traditional "palayok" and "pabitin" but more on the commercial made. The adults just tie the goodies onto the bamboo slats and put candies inside the clay pot. But the adults are more excited than the children. The children would rather have something different during the birthday celebration.
But of course this happens in the cities. But there are different things happening in rural birthdays. There's still the chicken blood put on your forehead with the cross sign. I remembered that some birthdays ago very first thing in the morning.

You know I can't remember having any birthday parties, maybe because we didn't have much money in those days plus the fact I was a very shy little kid, I don't think I could have handled all the attention back in those day and even today I don't like birthdays any way...

My birthday also had palayok and pabitin in it. We also had games like stop dance and sack race. I guess today's games are upgrades of what is was back then. There's still the traditional pabitin and palayok, it's just celebrated inside airconditioned fast food restaurants instead of the celebrant's home.

Well my childhood was not that exciting when birthdays are the topic. I only had one great celebration that my mother prepared for me. That was when I was 10 years old. I never asked them to but my mother insisted on me having a small birthday party. It was only a regular one where I have my cousins and friends coming over and just played around. I never had the fancy games and everything just eat and we play as children. I think nowadays it is already party in a box where there are some prepared games and everything is very well organized already.
