I have gone through many types of souvenirs along the years. For a long time I collected dolls. They were beautiful and we even made a special shelf with glass for them. But even there, they deteriorated with time.
Later on, we decided to take useful souvenirs and gifts. It was the time of the T shirts and the mugs.
Now I collect some shells, a nice rock, whatever suits my fancy when I´m walking at the place I´m visiting. It is important that it can be brought home and light and small to be able to get into my suitcase. My best souvenirs, of course, are my memories and thwe pictures I take.

A chilean wife?
I don´t know. There are souvenirs made of copper but I don´t like them much. I like lapislazuli, our national stone. You can get fairly unexpensive souvenirs with lapis. And you can take very expensive ones too, if you have the money. It depends on the quality of the stone.
There are the typical dolls also and some nice clay things copied from ancient pottery.
There are lots of things and much of it depends on what you like and how much money you can spare.
I bought woolen socks when I went to the south of Chile, but I used them in Winter and were useful.
There are also earrings and other unexpensive handcrafts.
Take your pick

A chilean wife? hmmm... hahaha... Look ma, I bought home a wife from Chile. Just a thought. Now that will really surprise them...hahaha...
Anyways, I think I will go with the stones. That would be interesting. I never heard of a country with a national stone yet except maybe for China.

If you came to my home country you might like to take home a model of black taxi, a red bus or a phone box. You could give a female friend a costume doll from England, Scotland or Wales. I think that the Welsh costume looks delightful. I collect costume dolls from around the world, foreign currency and postcards.

a red bus would do. That would be cool. hahaha... I will keep that for myself and not give it to others. About dolls? I can't think of any of my friends who are into dolls still... hehehe...

Usually i quite like to buy postcard with stamp, you can write down your travel feeling/good wishes to your firends at scenic spot, then post it out.
After 2-4 weesk later, you will received your hand writing card whrn you arrived your country.
The post card will stampted by your travel counties' post office.
This will be a specal souvenir for you and so romantic.
By the way, the postcard is not very expensive, so you can choose different design than you want.

normally, when i travel...i like buying stuff that reminds me of the country i went to - such as statues or significant monuments and locations. i believe that is the best gift that i can give to friends and things i would want to keep for myself. also, things that the country is known for - i would definitely buy those since those things would be hard to buy or expensive if i was to buy it in my country =D

i love going to beaches, every time i go to new beach i grab a bit of sand and place it in a neat little bottle. but just in case you happen to drop by cebu, where i'm from, i strongly suggest that you buy some dried mangoes for you and your friends. its really delicious and an excellent souvenir for your tongue. lol
