I cry and cry a lot. Then listen to really sad songs. And cry some more. Then pray and pour out everything to God. Listen to hymns. Then sleep. When I wake up in the morning, I already feel better.

I am just perfectly like you glorycam. I listen to sad songs and think of my grievances. I pour my heart our and talk to God in my room. One time, I prayed to God that He'll take away my life when I sleep because I failed to submit my solution paper in my final exam and I don't want to fail my subject.I guess I was too naive then.LOL!

Aren't you glad He didn't say YES to your request! Well, I guess we had days like those. And I'm soooo glad it's all over.

When i am sad i either paint or read. I often can feel the mood coming on so i try to get out of the house and go for walks in the woods by the rivrr. that.makes me happy as i love nature and water.

Well, for me it really depends on what is going on in my life at the time, and what type of things I might need or desire that can help bring me out of this depressive mood as well. It might just be people telling me they Love me and that they care and will stand by me no matter what happens. It might be a Hug, or a candy bar, or just a word of encouragement from god. It can be quite easy to allow yourself to want to sleep but in reality the best thing we can do is keep motivated and think of better things to come along our way.

Just be careful because those coping skills are not the best ones to use when dealing with your depression. At this point in my experience with depression, I win a battle by either praying or listening to some music. That usually does the trick. having said that, I am able to do that now because I'm on meds and have had years of therapy.
Kindest regards,
Dave

I clean the house...sometimes it makes me feel better when I am done. Or go on a walk with my headphones on and just think things through. Sometimes if I'm depressed for a longer period of time, I try to remember that I will bounce back soon most likely, and stay relaxed. Read a book or play a video game or do something to distract myself until I feel better.

I do sleep more when I'm depressed but I like to write as this helps me get through it.
