Computers ruined the life of my classmates in college

Anything used for too much is really destructive as well as any form of addiction. I share the same fate as your friend and I know a lot of peers of the same situation too. I hate admitting it but I believe that computer has become one, just one of the many, of the reasons I have failed to graduate.

Hiya careguarden, Oh yes they can ruin the life of anyone who becomes so addicted to it. Even if your Computer is your Money Maker so to speak it´s always best not to be on there all Day. It´s very time consuming and before you know it you have been on there 2 hours without realizing it. A lot of discipline is needed to measure the time we are on here and what we are here for as well. A sense of order is a must. First do your Work, Study and then you can surf all you want after. That´s what I do anyway. But I don´t have time to play Games or anything like that. Just enough time to write on here a while and that´s it I´m afraid. Maybe your Friend recovered his senses and passed his Exams after all seeing as you have not seen him in such a long time.

I know people like that. The point is to use the computer for fun, work, and communication, but not let it overtake your life. I feel like I have a good relationship with my computer. I use it everyday, but still have plenty of time for real life things.

Computer can take over our personal and social life.Its sad that it ruined your classmate's life. I'm too fond of computer games but i never let them took over my social or personal life. I'm in college and follows a simple trick so that i'm not able to play games during my exams days. What i do is simply remove my graphic card from the system. Due to this, my computer run on on-board graphics and i could not play any game. So, this keeps me off the games until i'm over with the exams and the day my exam ends, the graphic card is back into the system. So, its totally on the person how he found a workaround of the situation which he/she is facing at that moment. And when it comes to the future of any person, then its utmost important. So, computer can ruin life if you simply follow it blindly and can make your life if you make your computer follow you.

Hi careguarden Well i personally don't think a computer can ruin one life! Its utter nonsense.Sorry if i make my point so strongly but the thing is that computer r used for a lot of good purposes. Without basic knowledge of computers we will find it very difficult to overcome our difficulties. Plus maybe he can do what he finds interesting,playing games for a living!!

I pity your friend. But I don't think computers and computer games should be blamed. Computers are designed as productivity tools. They are there to help humans become more productive and accomplish a lot more than they otherwise would without these electronic tools. Computer games, meanwhile, are created to provide recreation. They should be used in moderation, as with any other forms of recreational activities. Just the same, I sure hope that your friend would finally ovecome his/her addiction. Good luck.

i don't think that computer is the culprit here, it is a human invention designed to help people advance their technological intelligence, they were not designed to take over your life. i think the problem is on your friend, his lack of discipline has made him addicted to computer games and therefore his studies suffer. unless he learn how to discipline himself he will not be able to get good education. we shouldn't let computers rule our life, we just have to use them but not make them center of our universe.

I like and enjoy computers very much but when I go to college that will become my priority, I'm easily able to switch gears if need be, my computer will still be used but for studying more and games less. As for computers ruining a persons life it depends on the person, and if the person has an addictive personality or is prone to extreme behaviour then yes its posible for somthing such as a devices to cause addiction, with that said I'm sorry your friend has been affected so negatively by computers.

I personally believe that it is NOT the computer that is ruining your friends life, but his own inability to stay focused on the tasks at hand. I have a computer and I do play games on it when I have the time. However as a mature adult I know that computer games come after everything else I need to do gets done. Your friends need to get their priorities straight. It isn't the computer that is making them fail, it is THEMSELVES!

wow. He was really addicted to those games! Some people can go to a bar once a week and have a few drinks. Others go once a week, then escalate to a few more times a week. Then they begin to drink at home as well. It depends on the person. Same with computer games. Most people do not get addicted to them, but some people do. It is not the game at fault. Your poor friend is addicted. I hope he is able to break the addiction and live a normal life.

I can say that computer can be Destructive or constructive depending on the student. Before, i also played computer games etc. but i prioritize my studies first. I also use my computer in searching our lessons and new ideas. We should always understand and prioritize the more important things and we should be responsible enough for our actions

I have a nephew, who together with his 2 other school mates were kicked out of their school because they were always in internet cafes, playing computer games. They were in a faraway city from their parents , studying. With that incident, they all went back to their provinces . AT least their parents could now , monitor how they are doing in school. My nephew now is doing well in school, after heavily reprimanded from the above incident, by his parents. he learned his lesson.

It is a big problem that so many college students addicted to the computer games. There are so many games that have a very large population of players like WOW(World of Warcraft). I heard that WOW's players has already more than 10 million. So many students drop their class because games are more attractive and finally they dropped school. Computer games has already ruin a lot of young people...

Computers can only ruin our life if we allow it to ruin our life. Actually this is not just applicable to computers but also to other things. Too much of something will do no good to us. Computers or even other things could be beneficial if used wisely but could be destructive if used inappropriately. We should not allow things to manipulate us. These things are given to us to be used by us and not to use us.

Well it does really depend on person for what and how much time s\he does use computer.
