Thyroid Nodules - Can this be alarming?

If you learn that your 68y/o mother was diagnosed to have Thyroid nodules, would let her have the doctors order to undergo biopsy and major surgery operation just in case? I am afraid that my mother would not be able to manage a surgery operation due to her old age. I recommended an alternate herbal medicine for her instead. This would lessen stress and depression that my mother can adopt from her situation. I am taking it possitively so she would feel light on her situation. The family is not yet ready to deal and face the circumstances emotionally, physically and financially. Hope someone out there can give me a good advice on this. Thank you

A few years ago my grandma had the thyroid nodules and then she had an operation. Fortunately everything went well. But her voice needed a long time to recover. I also had my thyroid nodules operation four years ago. A part of my thyroid was removed. Now I had the checkup and then the thyroid nodules problems happens again. I shall go to see a doctor. But I think I don't want to have an operation again until the thyroid nodules are big. Since your mother is already 68 years old, I don't really think she should have this operation. After all, it is harmful for the health. And the elders need a long time to recover. Usually the thyroid nodules are not the serious disease. If your mother doesn't care about it, perhaps it will not affect to her health until she is very old.

hello my friend..A thyroid nodule can occur in any part of the gland. Some nodules can be felt quite easily, while others can be hidden deep in the thyroid tissue or located very low in the gland where they are difficult to feel. Although the majority of thyroid nodules are benign (not cancerous), about 10% of nodules do contain cancer . Therefore, the primary purpose for evaluating a thyroid nodule is to determine whether cancer is present. Mentioning about cancer, prevention is better than cure.
