Do you think that the people you call on the phone should have more training? Recently I had a problem with my internet and I knew more then the person I was talking to therefore not getting any help. Has this ever happened to you? Do you think that they need more training? Or that it's okay the way it is?

I once went to BSNL to complain about the slow speed of internet. BSNL or Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is a government organization for telecommunication. Now they have exchanges in different places. Their service is the lest expensive. Therefore they are under the firm impression that no matter what people are always obliged to take their service. Now when I went to one of the exchanges to talk to the engineer. There was this arrogant receptionist who behaved with me as if I have taken a loan of some large amount and have asked her for some more time. I was totally shocked. She could do this because it's a government company and in such a company employees don't get punishment for their mistakes even if it's intentional. However, I went to see the engineer and tried to explain the things to him. I was shocked to find that he is not even aware of how the thing called 'broadband' functions. They are earning huge salary each month for doing absolutely nothing. I wonder how these people can enjoy such a high paying job whereas hundreds of thousands of young men who are more capable than this engineer are still unemployed.

There will always be some problems with tech support and no one is perfect. I think that surveys are being introduced now whereby you get to give a rating on the outcome of your tech support call and this is a good idea as it gives the company in question the opportunity to see how their staff are performing and they can then give extra training as needed.
The fact that you knew more thaan the tech support representitive you actually spoke to tells me that you should probably become a member of their team!. I used to call tech support a lot when things were going wrong with my computer but I don't do that anymore! Actually, I took a course in computer maintenance and installation and now handle all my problems! I like it this way! Andrew

I am a firm believer in complete training for computer tech support. If you are going to be able to help anyone with computer related problems, knowing what you are talking about and what to do can make all the difference to the person you are assisting.
