Hi All, Barcelona played a shocking draw against Sporting Gijon. Its a very good chance for Real Madird to close the gap on Barca to 5 points. But they have to beat Espanyol to do that. Barca will play Arsenal next in Champions league encounter. can Real Madrid close the gap?

Haven't seen the game, and I was very surprised when seeing that the game ended in a 1-1 draw. I was expecting a clear Barca win, but it seems that Arsenal was in their heads, so maybe that made them loose the concentration. However, I am convinced that Real will have to play very well to be able to win at Espanyol, which is a good team at home.

And they have won. When I saw that Casillas was sent off so early in the game, I thought that there is no way that Real can win this game, but as I heard, they could have won with a bigger goal difference. I have watched the last 10 minutes from the game and Adebayor had two great opportunities to score, while Espanyol none. So this tells a lot of how things were during the whole game. The commentator said that there is no doubt about that Real was much better than Espanyol.

I kinda thought the same, because Casillas often saves Real Madrid, but now he was gone, and they had to play with on 10 men on the pitch. Real Madrid was the best team, and they could easy have won win 2-3 goals. Marcelo has a great chance and Adebayor had some too. This result just shows how much Real fought yesterday to get closer to Barcelona.

Sure Real Madrid has to play very well, but when Barcelona perform bad, then Real Madrid gets motivated, and i think they are 120% motivated to win this match against Espanyol, so they only are 5 points behind.

Real Madrid did cash in on this and scored a 1-0 victory over Espanyol. But even then the lead that Barcelona has at the top 5 points is pretty phenomenal. I do not know if Barcelona had half an eye on the match against Arsenal or if it was one of those nights when everything that you does not work. Anyhow one more slip up from Barcelona can make La Liga more interesting. Cheers! Ram

Real made a great win, even though Casillas was sent off in the first minute. I think it was because, they had Arsenal in their heads, so i'm very exited to see, if the result against Gijon will infect the match in London.

Real did play well despite being 10 men and went on to win the game. Playing against Espanyol at home is not easy and this victory is a clear message that La Liga is not yet over.

I saw this match, and it was quite unbelievable. Barcelona had the ball almost all the time, and but they didn't manage to create a lot of chances. They only got a few. Real Madrid has a difficult match today against Espanyol, but I think Real is going to win it, because Barcelona's result makes them really motivated. I think Real win today, and make the difference between Real and Barca to 5 points. I hope the result against Gijon will affect Barcelona's performace against Arsenal and in the coming week league matches.

Yes, despite having plenty of the ball, Barca needed a superb goal from Villa to get a point from the match. Maybe , they are too focused on Arsenal. Real took advantage and the lead is now 5 points.

couldn't say it better. But maybe Barca's confidence got a hit, but we'll see today.
