Have you been to one of the 7 wonders of the world may it be the present or the old 7 wonders? Can you share your travel experiences there? If you haven't been to any, what is your first choice to visit and why?

Hi doggyd,
I haven't been to the seven wonders of the world for they are located outside my country far away.
If I could get the chance to visit one, I would go for the Pyramids of Giza, Egypt. It holds more allure and mysteries than all the mysteries of the ancient world combined. Its size, construction, and existence defies imagination. How I wish I could touch one of the stones of that great structure that has withstood the ravages of time for thousands of years.

Especially in the inside? I am wondering what would I feel when I enter that place? I am a bit saddened though by the news that happened to Egypt. Even the looters stole some of the parts of the mummies according to some reports. I wish they left that alone for others to see. Their fight is with Mubarak and not with the mummies.

I would go to the great wall of china first. For one I am a huge fan of chinese culture. And me being 1/4 chinese sparks an interest.

Though it is nice to see the Great Wall covered with snow, I would like to see it during spring just to have a different look.

So, of course the only remaining one of the ancient wonders is Great Pyramid of Giza. I have not been there, but I wish I could go, but not now...
The medieval list included:
* Stonehenge (been there twice)
* Colosseum (been there)
* Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa
* Great Wall of China (my mom went there)
* Porcelain Tower of Nanjing
* Hagia Sophia
* Leaning Tower of Pisa (I think my parents saw it)
So, that's for that list...
Then there is the more modern list, that made the Great Pyramid an honorary winner. This list includes:
Great Wall of China (see above)
Petra
Christ the Redeemer
Machu Picchu
Chichen Itza
Roman Colosseum (again, see above)
Taj Mahal
So, there you have it. Now, about wanting to see them, well, there are a BUNCH I would want to see, perhaps only the Christ the Redeemer in Brazil would I take off the list of want to sees... tho I think its outside Rio and I would like to see Rio.

That would be great to see, Christ the redeemer. Then time it with the world cup at 2014. A good trip I might say.

When I came home from Kenya I flew over the pyramids of Egypt and it was stunning to see. One day I would like to visit Egypt and see them from ground level. They are situated close to the city of Cairo and they are in a sandy landscape a bit like a desert. I have snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. The reef was colorful and I met many friendly fish. I know the seven wonders of the world from the past and it would be interesting to know which the modern day wonders of the world are.

That is thrilling to see the Pyramids from the sky. I remember you wanting to go to Machu Picchu. That is also included in the new Seven Wonders...

Yes I have been to one of the seven wonders. I visited Tajmahal which is in Agra near Delhi in India. It is truly a wonder of the world. You know why it is termed as one of the wonders of the world only when you visit the place. You can not assess its beauty by seeing it in pictures and photos. Its exclusive marble work is sight to behold. The monument on the bank of river Jamuna has to be visited during the full moon night to enjoy its full beauty.

I can imagine it now. It is like a scene from Aladdin. It would really be enchanting at a place like that.

As far as i have heard it is amazing place and yes i will also advise you too visit this place, if ever u come to india.
It is the place which is proof of love story of Sahajahan and Mumtaz.

I have been to Taj Mahal in the City of Agra in India. I was on a visit to New Dehli once on a business trip, and one weekend, one of my host members suggested that we should visit the Taj Mahal. I very much thanked hime for taking me there. Taj Mahal is an amazing architechtural achievement, very unique and beautiful design. It certainly is a wonder of the world.

I havn't been to any...yet. First choice is Machu Picchu. (I think it is one of the old 7 wonders but could be wrong) There is something very mystical about it that draws me like no other place. I hope to get there in 2012.

Yup you are right. It is included in the New Seven Wonders of the World. Yeah, I am so perplexed with that ancient site. I am drawn to it also but it is very far from my home. Maybe I can go there in 2014 or 2015. hahahaha...
