Do you like to give/receive flowers on Valentines?

I do , I do, I do want to receive one on Valentines. Flowers never fail to put a smile on my face. I know they can be quite pricey during this special day. But who cares? You are giving them to someone you love. I don't know if I would be receiving anything from my husband. Although sometimes he surprises me with one even if there is really no occasion. I really wish he could give me even just one long-stemmed rose.
Last night on our way home, my brother & I rode the train. There were just so many people waiting so when the train arrived and the doors opened, people just scampered to get a seat. A man seated beside us was holding a long-stemmed rose. Well I was looking for the rose, until I noticed there was just the stem left. The rose had detached from the stem due to the scampering. I really find it amusing (I'm so bad) but I also pity the man. He looked disappointed. He'll take a rose to his beloved with just a stem and not a rose. I doubt if he'll still give it.
To the guys out there, do you give flowers to your beloved on Valentines. If not, what do you usually give her?
To the ladies, do you like receiving flowers? Or do you have other things you want to receive from your partners on this day?
To all Mylotters! Happy Valentines!

We are moving to our new house in two months time. And I really wanted to grow rose bushes because I really like roses. So maybe, in lieu of flowers I think it is a good idea to suggest to my husband to buy me instead roses in pots, so I can grow them in my garden. At least I could appreciate the roses not just one time but through out the year.

I don't think I ever received flowers on Valentine's Day, I have only received flowers occasionally from my husband. I think I would like to receive a real gift more than a bunch of roses but a couple following with the gift will be good.

A real gift would surely last for years rather than a bunch of roses. But somehow a bunch of roses never fails to make my heart flutter and put a beautiful smile on my face.

Well you really don't actually need a lover to give a flower. Why not give it to the most important woman in your life..your mom? I'm sure she'd be happy to receive one.

I have been on both the giving and receiving end of flowers on valentine's Day. it is a sweet tradition that can never be wrong. it can make you feel good about yourself and the one you love to give and receive flowers as a gift.

I always like receiving flowers, but I've forgiven my husband for not giving me one on Valentines. Anyway, there are still a lot of days within the year to give me one. Prices of flowers just soar high on Valentines.
When I was still with my mom, I often give her flowers. And if I see how happy she was when she receives them, I just really feel good about myself. Flowers never fails to make her smile.

I like to give flowers on Valentine's Day but a girl actually told me that it's lame so I just stopped. She said it's already outdated and that I should give something else.

Every person has their own preferences. Maybe, she isn't the flower-type girl.
If you really like a girl, know what she likes. Besides, you can always give flowers to the most important girl in your life...your mom! Happy heart's day!

Hi Abhi! Welcome to Mylot & happy valentine's day!
Well it is not only through material things that you get to show how much you love or care for your loved one. You can show it through actions like kissing or hugging them or you can cook something special for them. Who says Valentines can be expensive? All we need is a little of our creative. Have a nice day!

For me, present is just secondary. What important for me is the time and the thought. Remembering the date would be enough for me to feel that someone remember to greet me or let me know she or he care for me. But you're right, flowers brings smile to someone especially on heart's day. there are still lot of things that symbolyzes love on this very special day, but just like you..flowers is more of love symbol as well as chocolates as symbolyzes sweetness. And Yes, I would opted flowers to receive on this special day. Happy heart's day.

You are right BB! Presents like flowers and chocolates are just added bonus. There are so many ways how a person can show their love and care for someone. It is not just through material things. Sometimes, a simple hug or a kiss would do magic.
Happy heart's day!

So, you like giving more than receiving? I like receiving more.
But I always give my mom flowers and I am so happy to see how happy she is when I gave them. The expression on her face is just priceless. Happy Valentines!

Hello Sweet_pea,
Early this morning I saw an old man hurrying home from the flower market with a large bouquet of freesia. I imagine it was for his wife. I thought it is so nice that age haven't change that man and he still shows his love to his partner in life.
I don't think there is a lady who doesn't like to receive flowers. I am no exception, I love receiving flowers. Luckily my partner does this often, sometimes he surprises me with such a gesture. He doesn't need a special day to bring me flowers and this is wonderful.

I still do too, but that would be another added expense to my husband's share in tonight's valentine day celebration with the in-laws.
We ( all my in-laws plus spouses ) shall be having our dinner at a seaside restaurant, complete with a band playing. It would be so nice because the place was all in glass, you could see the lights of the buildings and houses by the seaside.
Isn't it nice to look forward to tonight?

Girls like flowers, this is girls's nature. But I didn't send any flowers to my girlfriend. In my opinion,Flowers will fade and is quite impractial. At present,I change my mind,if I do some things that can give her happiness or some happiness feeling, why not?At present,my girlfriend is far from me,so there no chance to give her flowers.Life is hard, but love is sweet!HAPPY valentines DAY TO ALL MYLOTTERS!

Hi qieerbushe! Welcome to Mylot and Happy V day too!
You are right, it is really impractical to give flowers as they would only wilt in days. But to us girls who wants to receive them, it gives us a feeling of warmth and happiness. I really can't explain. Flowers works for me specially if I am in a foul mood or had a petty fight with my husband. I also give flowers to my mom. I know it's really special to her since I'm the only one who gives her flowers. My dad has long been gone.
I know you'll find a way to make this day special for both of you even if you are not together. Love will always find a way. Happy Valentines!

Hi Hatley! I use to give my mom flowers on V day and on special occasions. She just loved receiving them. But we are currently living in another city. So I just talked to her over the phone. Maybe, I'll surprise her over the weekend and go for a visit.
I hope you have a nice time tomorrow. I wish you well Hatley. I hope your foot is better, so you can dance at the party. Happy Valentines Hatley!

I would prefer the whole plant, rather than the flowers.
At least I can enjoy the blooming of the flowers throughout the year.
Actually I like plants with edible food best of all. Between a pot of rose plant, and a tomato plant, I would prefer the tomato plant.
My mum is the polar opposite. She loves flowers, not plants with edible food.

You got a point Shceng! Flowers are really nice, but give it a few days and they wilt. All you have are memories of good feelings when you received them. I also want to have a rose bush when we moved to our new home. I just love roses.

Hi, sweet_pea.
I give flowers to my wife because she loves getting them. But if I had my way, I would give her something different. Something practical. Something she could use. But hey, valentine's Day is giving the person you love something that they love and not for practical reasons, isn't it?

Yeah it's only once a year you get to celebrate Valentines, although we can spend Valentines any day we want. I also love receiving flowers from my husband but when he called yesterday that a piece of American rose that I really like costs P500 a bud. I explicitly said to him, don't buy me one. The flower shops just took advantage of the day to really earn. He said he'll just buy me one when it's off-peak season. So he just accompanied me shopping yesterday and gave me a silver ring today. Not that pricey, but it's the thought that counts!

I hope it's not late but Happy Valentines too anyway.I feel sorry too to the guy who holds what is left of his flower he is holding due to passengers scampering for a train ride.I too give flowers to my wife on special occasions but today the price of flowers increased because of the demands, but I was able to give her 3 red roses freshly cut courtesy of her garden. She too cooked a special dinner for us and we celebrated Valentines at home with the kids.

Yes it was too pricey that I told my husband not to buy one for me.
Your rose garden is a saving grace. When we'll move to our new home, I'll make sure I'll have a rose garden so I can admire them throughout the year.

Oh I am sure my sweetie will be giving me flowers, he knows I prefer colorful blooming one's as opposed to roses.
I suppose riding on the train would be quite difficult with all the hustle and bustle of people getting in and out that they are perhaps bumping into one another and the flowers will not last in there, unless of course the trains or buses are empty.
We shall see if anything special comes my way as he is such a sweetie, although he does have a show, he is performing so we won't celebrating too much, but that is okay he and I spend a great deal of quality time together as we live together and travel a great deal.

We really don't have to spend much on this day just to show our love to our partners. I myself didn't prepare anything for my husband. Maybe, I'll just give him a kiss. Aside from it's free it also comes from the heart.
I hope you have a nice time together on V day!

Hi there! Welcome to Mylot & Happy V Day!
It is truly heart warming to receive something from a loved one.
That would just be an added bonus since their presence is enough to make us happy.
