India Wins At Bangalore...!!!!

India manages to defend a small total of 215 against the Aussies. The Indian batsmen seemed to be at sea against the bowling of Lee, Bollinger and Johnson. They lacked application more than anything. Barring a couple of dismissals, the rest were pure give aways. Had the Indian tail not wagged, they would have ended up defending a much smaller total. Suresh Raina fails to impress, yet again. His spot in the batting line up is a crucial one. It is that spot, which might be needed to hold fort at one end, or go bang bang at an other time. But with this temperament, holding fort might never happen. But Raina has to understand that this is the difference between Twenty Twenty and One Day Internationals. In One Dayers, strategies are required and that one cannot just always go berserk. I hope he learns his lesson sooner than later, because we can surely use a player of his caliber, provided he plays to his full potential. The spinners and the fielding impressed. I hope that this continues and that the batsmen also come to the party. Share your views....!!!! Balu.

Despite the win, No positives for India. The bowler that performed will not be the member of the final playing 11. Famed batting lineup failed miserably against pace. The member who needed to find form with bat ( Yuvi , Dhoni & Raina) did not ! As feared, Munaf is totally in adequate in home conditions. It's time Indian batsmen start taking responsibility. The Aussie bowling was not as good as it was made to look. Tail-enders showed more application than top order. To top all this, Today Dhoni complains on telly today, saying that the team is tired after too much cricket. A closer look at the team will confirm that only He & Harbhajan have played in all forms of cricket including champions trophy. Making a generalized statement that too a week before the world cup is very irresponsible of him. Taking batting powerpaly after losing 9 wickets is another point of bad strategy displayed by Dhoni. May be its time to look for a new captain !

It was amazing how India manage to give away their wickets. Once in a while I believe they should let the opposition earn it... I sincerely pray that the batsmen do not take it casual as the world cup is happening in our back yard. I am sure if we show more application, we will win. I agree that Dhoni's comment that "the team was tired" was more an excuse to the fact that Indian batting lacked purpose. Any ways I hope that things fall in to place sooner than later....!!! @srijshm i have been telling that Dhoni is over hyped for almost a year and half and all it took is a warm-up game before world cup and a press conference to make people see that point? i give up. lol everybody said that batting is india's strength but unfortunately thats not the case. during the south african series,it was because of the bowlers we won matches. i am happy that sreesanth made sure that he will play in starting XI. that was a fiery spell i have seen from him after a long time. munaf going for line and length punished nehra going for short and wide punished. sehwag never goes out of form but gambhir has to become the old gambhir in the world cup and not turn into dhoni.may be the bangla match would help. raina, yuvi, dhoni looks a very strong middle order in paper but nothing in performance. yusuf did very well. i think india should go with 2 pacer and 2 spinner attack in this world cup. so go with zaheer, sree, bhajji and one of those 2 spinners. the spinner were better at run controling that seamers. but all in all,it was a disaster. if india has lost the match,it would have served a purpose but by winning, the middle order problem once again gone in the wind.

Dear Star I must say, at one time during the match, I really hoped that India would lose. As you said, it would have really exposed our "strong middle order". But now... I just hope that it comes good sooner than later. What else can we do (:P)...!!!! Share your views... Balu

Its fantastic cricket played by India. What a 2nh half of 2nd innings for India. It will boost up the Indian team, but at the same time its feeling bad about the strong batting line-up... They need to perform consistent up to their mark to claim the title...

Dear Raj, Let us be honest. We got lucky this time...And the Indian middle order needs a kick in their back side.. And it is about time some one did it..!!! Share your views...!!! Balu

Despite familiar home conditions, Indian batsmen did not make much use of the conditions. However, we should also not under rate the Aussie pace attack. Inspite of the recent failures of Aussie team, they still have a great chance in this world cup, as they have a good tendency of fighting well even in adverse situation. Remember the 1999 world cup, when they went on to win the world cup despite losing the first 2 group matches against NewZealand and Pakistan.

Yes, the 1999 Australian team had Gilchrist, Steve Waugh, Ponting in his prime form, and the leading wicket taker (71 wickets) in world cup Glenn Mcgrath, as well as Shane Warne. Let us see how India plays in next warm up game against NewZealand.
