Why do they drink their beer out of such small bottles in the USA?

Even the German beers, which would normally come in 500ml bottles are reduced to about 2/3 of their size for the US market. The same with the Brit beer, Newcastle Brown Ale. Just wondered. Must be American tastes?

Just an idea, but maybe when prohabition ended, goverment set regulations on the size a bottle could be. They seem to want to control everything else!

I do think it has something to do with the purchasing power of the people. We are all facing difficulty in our finances that we are forced to tighten our belts. Manufacturers are adjusting to this by making their products smaller to make it more affordable. In our country, almost everything has been downsized in one form or another. Shampoo, conditioners, coffee, mayonnaise, ketchup and the like are sold in sachets. Even prepaid credits for cellphones and internet services are sold retail.
