More and more I hear that we should all use meditation for releif of stress. But my question is: HOW DO YOU DO IT? For many years I have tried only to give up to my ever wondering mind.
Now I have found a short, simple meditation that I can do. So I am going to shre this with you my friends;
First lay or sit in a comfortable way, in a quiet place. Next breathe in saying CALM you can say this in your mind if you don't want to say it out loud. Breathe out and SMILE. Breathe in saying PRESENT MOMENT, breathe out saying GOOD MOMENT. Do these simple 4 breaths. for 5 mins. twice a day. If your mind wonders just bring it back to the words, don't think about it, just concern yourself taking long
full breaths. Blessings, this works for me.

That is one that I've never seen or heard of before. However, I gave it a quick try as I was reading the discussion and I think that it could be a really effective meditation because of the fact that you are speaking in your head so you are really using every part of your being to relax yourself. I am definitely going to have to keep this one in mind so that I can use it when there are things in my life that are stressing me out.

Great advice Pat! Meditation does wonders for the health. I used to meditate a lot when I was younger and when I had my daughter I did put it on the back burner because I presumed I still needed to spend a lot of time in meditation in order to benefit but that is not true at all. Five to ten minutes once or twice a day can do wonders. Your post is a good reminder to get into it and feel that stress melt away...

I do the same thing except, while breathing in I imagine I am taking in all the good there is for me, and while I breath out I imagine all bad in me going out of me. It helps. Please do keep this habit lifelong.

Yoga and meditation go together! Start your day with Yoga and after a 45 minute workout take a few minutes to relax on your mat.Close your eyes, relax mind, and body, and let everything go.At this point as you float in a restful void of mindlessness,perhaps a distant sound persists,or an odor lingers, and you feel enabled. In your minds eye, a scene from the past, or a vision from the future, relax your closed eyes, and see!

That is very good. I have been practising meditation for over 10 years now, and as regularly as I can. I sit for atleast 30 minutes every evening after I get back home from work. Minfulness meditation, mindful of things happening in the body and the mind. As one continues to do that, the mind becomes stable, stops wandering and wavering, and free of stressful thoughts. There are, of course, different ways of meditation. One method which is practised in many places around the world is the method taught by Sayagyi Goenka. If you like to read more about that, you can take a look at the site www.dhamma.org
Best wishes to you !

I've never tried it either. I don't know that I can stop my mind long enough to do that other than to take a nap. I think what would work wonders in my life would be 2 fill time incomes, I have plenty of down time at home.

I have been doing meditations too especially last year when I was just sooooo stressed out. It really helped me to move on. I also found an ebook with a cd you can listen to, entitled 8 minute meditation. You should try to look for it. It teaches how to do meditation step by step from day 1 to advance levels.
