Even though the english language has only one meaning for love and defines it as affection, the greek language has four meanings or actually types of love: 1. Storgay: which is motherly love and is love among relatives. It is selfless and purest form of love. Needless to describe, the word 'motherly love' is self explanatory. 2. Eros: which is s*xual or romantic love. It is only love for one's body and not the soul. Once the s*xual thirst of the person subsides, gradually love vanishes and disgust takes its part. This love is short-lived. Many people mistake attracton for love and love for attraction. Even though people might not want to cal Eros as love, still it is a form of love cause there is no s*x without love and no love without s*x. 3. Phileo: this is love towards someone we like. Liking of someone is only dependent on what he posseses. It might be from money to fame to character. This love is discremenant from person to person. It is only dependent on the taste of the person and his likes/dislikes. This love too may subside as we loose the speciality him/her loves in us. 4. Agape: this is the deepest love based on doing good things for the other person. This love too is selfless and is pure love. Agape(type of love) doesnt need any relation, reason or quality to love. It stays on even though you loose everything. It supports you at bad times and rejoices in you at good times. This is the love everyone must try to give and yearn for. When asked "Why do you love him/her?" some people lie "I dont know, i just love him/her more than my life." whish is just vague and they too can hear their insides saying "Do i really love him/her against my life?". Crushes and attractions are not un-avoidable. Similarily, loving someone for the good in them too is not a mistake or it cant be blamed entirely for selfishness. We are just normal people with normal requirements and wishes. But what one must do is to give and have never ending love. I little of Eros, a little of Phileo and lots of Agape will work the magic. ;) Happy valentines day. :)
