I was just talking to a friend of mine who can't believe that I've always given my daughter something for Valentine's Day? :-( I guess to him Valentine's Day is about romantic love, but for me it's about any kind of love, and my daughter is the love of my life, so why wouldn't I get her something? This year I got her a valentine's bucket and put in a stuffed monkey, some chocolates, bubbles and a Valentine T-shirt. She loved it! I gave it to her last night though because she is at her mom's house this week. I went and helped with her class party today though and it was a blast. :-) Did you give your child(ren) a present for Valentine's Day?

I don't have any kids but I always liked this idea as essentially as you say you love your daughter as I will love my kids to me valentines day shouldn't be considered as romantic love well at least not solely. So I admire you showing your parental love and hope to implement such a thing in my future.

welocme to the wonderful world of mylot raelinsdad, hope you like it here. i am now working abroad but i send flowers for my wife. she made her cry har har har. but if i were home i would give gift to my son as well he is 5 years of age. valentines are not only for couples its generally for love. no matter what kind of love that may be. here in japan only females guive gifts for the males... mostly chocolate. i find it funny but that is their culture. hope to see you more around

My immediate question would be why would you not give your child a gift for Valentine's Day? Valentine's Day is a celebration of love and I know that I for one love my children more than I love anyone else in the world. I appreciate the fact that my husband always does something special for me for Valentine's Day. But for me, I don't think that holiday would be complete if I did not do something special for my children. Though in terms of romantic love there is no one that will ever beat my husband, in terms of love in general there is no one that will ever beat my children.

For this Valentine's Day, I have given my daughter my permission for her to attend her university fair, giving her extra money for tickets and allowing her to stay after midnight. I guess this is the best post Valentine she 's received for this special day of the heart!

I give my grandchildren a card and a favorite 'goodie' for valentines day. Thankfully, my own daughters (married with families of their own) understand I'm not in an economic bracket that allows me to do something for each and every one, so I make them their favorite cinnamon buns lol. To my way of thinking, Valentines day isn't just for lovers, it's to let special people in your life know that they are thought of with love. With my grandkids, we concentrate on making homemade gifts and cards for their parents, a true gift from the heart. I think it's sweet to give to the children. The joy in their eyes from being seen as special is priceless!

My mom gave me some cash on Valentine's day and I really appreciated it. I am a little short of cash right now and this money will help me a lot. I plan to make it up to her when I am able to get my finances in order.

Most definitely! I see nothing wrong with giving your children valentine's day gifts. I remember when I was younger my father would always give my sister and I flowers and candy as well as my mother and those were some of the best valentine's days that I can remember!

in my country the western custom like the valentine's day has being become more and more popular, and many young people enjoy it,they always give presents to each other, like roses, chololates ,some special things.i have no child, but if i was a child and received my parents' gift,i would feel more touching, although i am happy now.

I got my daughter a little present for valentine's day. I also have a home daycare and I always do a little party for the kids and they get to exchange valentine's day cards. They have such a blast with it even though they are too small to read so I just make sure to have enough different cards so I can say the Princess cards are from whoever and so on. My dad always go me things when I was growing up and I loved that. Her grandparent sent her a card and even called her and wished her Happy Valentine's day. I agree with you it is a day to show whoever we care for that we love them.

well... i think i'm a true scottish: i offer her a empty basket, and i said "i hope you have a very rich imagination" :P
but really, at 3 years old, my daughter don't know what's Valentine... so, for some 2 or 3 years, i'm safe :D .
and... i not need to be valentine for offering her a small present... a toy, a chocolate, or something she like...
same thing applies for his older brother: is not really need to be his birthday to have a small present... :D

Valentine day is a beautiful day. You will give a gift for a girlfriend. But what type a gift will you give? Not all gifts you can give. Example, you cant give a gift too showy for her. You can give a commission or a lovely ring for her. You can be creative !
