Where's the "proof"?

I recently got into a great discussion regarding the existence of aliens and if there is any actual "proof" that they exist or if they've visited Earth. This discussion is not meant to be about if they exist or not, but it's for those of you that already believe they exist. The question is...What was the deciding factor for you to be a believer in aliens? Did you see something? Encounter something?

I don't have a personal experience on the matter (Thank God!) but if we're just talking about possibilities then there's an interesting mathematical rendition of the topic that could give us clues. I'm talking about the Drake Equation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drake_equation) a formula that was conceived to estimate the probable number of alien civilizations within our galactic neighborhood. Of course, it's not really a complete proof for the existence of aliens but it makes you wonder if we're really alone in the universe.

I'm sorry for the double-post. My browser closed unexpectedly and I didn't know if my previous comment was posted or not. To the myLot admin, feel free to delete one of my comments if there's a need.

No worries about the double post...at least not from me. I've actually heard of the Drake equation, but had forgotten about it. I would have to say that the probability of other civilizations being more advanced than us is very probable, especially considering that Earth is a very young planet in relation to so many others.

Even Jupiter's Europa has ice and straight lines but "Enceladus" has something very interesting, there is a fountain of water at one of it's pole that goes miles above it's surface. It confirms that "Enceladus" is another place in this solar system that has water at a temperature where human can survive and you can imagine the temperature near to that fountain (Hopefully, earth like temperature).

hey in 1947 US Airforce arrested 3 aliens when their space craft got crashed.
They disclosed it in 2004 after congress members pressure.
I even have those pics in my PC.
Doctors were operating on their body.

Akhilesh, we may agree with you on this but I doubt people who don't believe on Aliens will agree with you on this.
Check this video and let us know what do you think:

Ummmm....So, what you're saying is, if that's actually true, is the aliens weren't really "arrested", but captured and murdered. Leave it to the government to revert to murder in the name of science. Can you provide a link to the 2004 disclosure?

Hello penniestoadream,
I must say, you know how to initiate a great discussion. The topic and the initial description are very impressive.
Now you would be expecting me to type a full paragraph on this topic.
Even I feel like typing so many pages on this topic, however, without wasting your time, I will give you a URL:

Hopefully, you and others will enjoy the website and the free books.
Last time I didn't get a reply for my comment in your discussion, this time, be careful, otherwise, aliens will haunt you...
Happy Mylotting !!!

Let me tell you, previously, somehow, I used to comment on other topics. Since I have found people like you here, who logically think about anything and do not get emotional on their own point of view, it's become easier for me to add a comment in such discussions.
Hopefully, people who have added their comments here or who are reading this discussion, will read others comments as well and get to know what others (including me and you) think on this topic.

I agree. When including yourself in such a debatable subject, it's wise to read all of the comments to get a better understanding of the way the discussion is going and how everyone feels or the information that they are trying to present and bring to the discussion. Conversations like this are fun, as they tend to bring a lot of different things that you might not have heard of. This way, you can try to see the way the commenter sees it and decide for yourself...form your own opinion on it.

I knew you would find me here....that was my plan all along. lol I'll have to check out those links when I get home, so that I can get the books. I'm at work right now, so they probably wouldn't want me dl'ing anything here. Thanks for the comment regarding conversation initiation. I find it's very important to have a good idea and to word it properly, leaving many possibilities for answers. I'm glad you found this. I was thinking about linking this conversation to the other, that way, the other discussion could return to it's original topic. With this one, I figured that, hopefully, people such as yourself would give a really interesting example of "proof" that I might not have heard of yet, so I could investigate a little further.....when I get the time that is. Life seems pretty hectic these last couple of months. lol

So true...unfortunately, we may never know in our lifetime, but keep the hope alive.

Wheres the proof in god? I think to really see the proof in anything you have to believe it. I've heard people even through away scientific evidence because they didn't believe that people could find certain things out without faith.

This was one of my points in another discussion too, but to you, what is the proof that made it most real to you?

Haven't you heard of Aladdin and aren't you aware of the movie Bewitched?
By the word "Jinn", S/he meant "Jeannie". When we see these things in movies and stories they are only good but sometimes, in real world they could be the most dangerous experience of your life (Extremely powerful spirits may be). "Jinn" or "Jinnat" is a Urdu word (May be), they are mainly mentioned in Muslim religion.
Scientifically if you try to analyze these things, they are creatures living in other dimensions and have more powers than human. That's what I understand, truth may be something else.

Interesting....I've never thought that they would have actually been real, but many people believe many different things based on their own experiences. Thanks for the information Dollar. So, khanatd, what leads you to believe that these are real?

Would you be able to provide a link to some information regarding Jinns? I've never heard of them. Are they ghosts or aliens? Angels or Demons? What made you come to the decision to believe in them?

If I'm not mistaken, there are scientists that claimed that there's high likelihood that aliens exist given the vastness of the universe. But they also claimed that if even there's chance that they visit earth and they are the aliens as what is perceived on TV then the encounter is not going to be a nice site since it's sure that they won't travel light years just to say high to us but rather to take our resources or something to that effect.

That's what a lot of ufo believers think that the "Band of Holes" are. A large scale mining operation for resources, with the Nazca lines as a guide. Perhaps it wasn't a mining operation, but a way of communication with the others in space. They could have filed each hole with gold or other minerals to form a message.

There was a hoax that I saw a little while ago, too, that said that there are 3 very large ships heading towards Earth and will be here sometime in 2012. lol Check it out.

Keep believing! There's nothing wrong with believing in something even though you can't provide proof or evidence.

yes aliens exist. and we are that aliens. we are visitors of this planet and our time here on earth are numbered. we just live here for a very very very short time. our life is like a mist, a vapor that appears for a little while then vanishes away. that's our life on earth looks like. we only live 70 to 80 years, if we have the strength there's a bonus.

You lost me on that one. lol So, you're saying that because we only live for 70-80 years (average per human) that we are aliens to Earth because we only visit for that amount of time? Wouldn't that be the same then for anything with life that is on Earth?

yes, the whole creation is included, the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now, this present heavens and earth will pass away. what i mean alien is that we are traveler or a foreigner in this world.
