I am 43 years old and i am starting to have back problems. if I am walking around, i am fine...but if I have to stand still for 5 minutes of even less.....my lower back will start paining. If I continue to stand it gets to the pint where I have a hard time to sit down. Sometimes, a little twist, like emptying out the dishwasher will make it hurt also.
I started walking on a treadmill the last week of December....hoping this would help my back and well help keep high blood pressure away. my mother was my age when she started taking HBP medication.
My sister suggested that I start to do core exercises. I will have to look on Youtube to check some of them out....but do any of you have back problem and do regular exercise to help get rid of the pain?

Maybe an evaluation if you have insurance. could be a lot of different things. At least an xray. My thoughts are with you.

Well, i live in Canada, so it doesn't cost me anything to get an xray. There can be no pain for days......but if I just happen to stand still for a few minutes....it starts to ache. I am thinking that it is my posture.

Actually, I do have 2 yoga dvds. I ave tried it a couple of times.
If I had the will power to do it everyday.....I would probably work.
But....if my back gets bad enough, I will have to do it, won't I?

Are you overweight? How many kids do you have? Have you ever fallen?
If your stomach muscles are loose, your back muscles will be under strain. I'd suggest doing exercises to strengthen your abdominals as well as your back. Yoga would be good, but you must be careful and start gradually. It has taken 43 years to get to this pain point, so don't be discouraged if it takes a while to recover your healthy back.

Hi. Nadinest1. I have back problems too. My back pain comes from my lower back. I hope that you don't have an Herniated Disc like I do. You would have to get an MRI done on your back to determine the results. Exercising does help with back pain, I will have to admit. When I stand up for only a short period of time, my back will start to hurt. I know what you are going through. Sometimes it is so hard for me to get up out of the bed.

i also have back pain. It's because of sitting for a several hours at work. Before, I could handle the pain, it only last for a minute but now it last in an hour. To relieve the pain I just lay my back in bed for a minute and relax. Also try to consult a doctor to check why is your back pain getting worst so that they can tell you the best ways to cure the pain and enjoy life at its best.

I have had back problems for EONS! I did exercises for them and they helped, but I got lazy.
lemme think, I remember my parents putting a board in my bed when I was a small child because I was having back problems... so... I've been having back problems for over 50 years... off and on, but since college... well, that's a whole other discussion!

After many years of back pain I have found that Yoga helps me the most. You also need to be aware of how you sit and stand and if you do any lifting you neeed to lift from your legs not from your back. Stress is often a cause of back pain.

I do exercise 3 - 5 times a week and I too have back pain and not related to the exercising. My I believe is to attributed to much sitting for long periods of time. I use hot compresses to alleviate the pain and sometimes back pain patches as well.
