how to know if a used car is in good condition ?

i wanted to get a car recently and the paln is to get a secong hand car but i don't know how to look at the condition , so any advise for me ? what part should i pay more attention to ?

I have no idea about this thing, all I know is sit in the car and drive 
My husband is good at this, he can tell by only listening to the noise that the car makes, then he knows what the problem is, I thought it is amazing that he can do that. And he is right everytime. When we bought our new car in the last summer, he checke this and that and made sure the car drove all right and the salesman knew nothing while he was selling to us.
