I remember when we were going home from Singapore I tried to have a look around the airport before the plane arrives. And I was so impressed. I would say to myself, "This is not an airport. This is a mall!" hahaha... It has almost everything in it. Food courts, shopping, spa, theaters (yup movies here are for free), gardens, entertainment and a swimming pool. Yes, there is a swimming pool.
If we had an airport like that, I wouldn't mind my flight being delayed. hahaha... How about you? what are your unforgettable experiences in an airport? What does your airport look like and what do you think is the best airport that you have been to?

I have been to Singapore three times. It has the best airport in the world. I have enjoyed sitting in its roof top garden. If I went back there and my flight got delayed I would love to try out the swimming pool and spa. Now there is a reason for me to keep my swimming costume in my hand luggage.
I have flown into airports in the South Pacific Oceans. Due to arriving in the early hours of the morning I have had to sit up the rest of the night awaiting for dawn. Then the bus service would begin working. When leaving the flight left at a similar hour in the night. I got to the Cook Islands Airport in the evening and it was dark plus quiet. Suddenly the lights came on, a Polynesian dancer started and a plane landed. The passengers slowly came off the plane and got a warm welcome.
I had a funny experience at the Maldives Male Airport. At 11.00 five flights wanted to go out of one gate. A man joked the German people have their towels on the runway. Sure enough their plane went first. Second was the Italian airline. Third was the British airline. My plane to Gan went next and the other local flight waited until last. That plane has wings above the windows for sightseeing. They gave a certificate to say each passenger had passed the Equator!
I usually go to London Heathrow Airport and it is large plus very busy. It is always about waiting in a long line for check in and security. It has five different terminals. I have been from Bristol Airport a couple of times and it is a small regional airport only handling European flights.

Airports in big cities or developed countries offers a lot of conveniences for travelers. I love shopping or just browsing through variois items at Duty Free shops. I know I can buy stuffs for myself and presents at good prices. However, expect that food and drinks at airports are quite expensive. Some airports have popular burger fastfoods that budget travelers can afford. I certainly like the garden setups of Singapore airport, by the way it is voted as the best airport in 2010.I also like Vancouver departure airport. Narita or Tokyo airport has this sense of order, cleanliness, and minimal aesthetic design.

The last time when I flew, I was flying from Hong Kong to Boston. I didn't have a lot of time to stay at the airport before abording. I went through all the securtiy, custom, everything then I just went straight to the gate and waited until abord. I remember seeing a lot of stores in the airport though, maybe I will get to see when I come home this summer.
Nice to meet you.

There are a lot of good airports around the World and some that really need improving. Bangkok's new airport is really nice and big. Bali's is very tropical and gives the feel of the island even if it is on the small size. However, Jakarta's (the countries capital) is a nightmare and horrendous, should just be pulled down and re-built. But as you say, they are nothing on Singapore's, but do we really have time to see a movie or go swimming?
The thing I think all airports need to do is bring down their over inflated food and drink prices. Because they have a captive audience pricing is well over the top. Once you go through the departure gate and into the area full of duty free shops food and drink places are more expensive than anywhere else in the country.

With all the convenience that is available in this airport I would not mind being to early for my flight. After I strolled and shop I could just sleep when I take my flight. This is really world class facility.

I agree, there are airports that are not boring! Makes you think, maybe a lot of flights here are delayed? A swimming pool? I gotta look forward to that! I think I have a Singapore trip this year. Wifi at airports is enough entertainment for me.
