I have this teacher that really caught my attention. He is so humble and proud in a good way. He talks about his achievement in life and how he graduated despite the fact that he was a working student. I was hit by his words and how he seems to be worry free in anything. He is teaching for three years now but i learned that he hasn't have a cubicle in the faculty room. He just stayed at the very corner of the corridor in the main building of our university. I was touched by his condition and felt pity on him but it seems that he doesn't care at all as long as he has his job. He is even happy and contented of what he has and very thankful in our school for absorbing him as one of the teachers. It made me realize that no matter how small your achievement is for others, it may mean a lot to you when you really achieve it in your own and that being contented in life is one of the ways to be happy!:))

Hi
Yes i agree with you 100%. There is nothing better than contentment if you want to lead a happy life. Greed and craving for more and more is one of the primary reasons why we make your life miserable. Our teacher is a very good example of the fact that the most important thing to enjoy life is self-satisfaction.

I agree! And if he is happy without a cubicle, then just be happy for him, don't pity him.
Some people have various reason's for the way they feel.Think about it,if he had a cubicle and may feel shut out or maybe he is super chlostraphobic,.Who knows? What may be right for you or me,may not be right for him.

being content is the most effective way i think of being happy..to be satisfied with the things that you have and appreciating every blessing that comes your way... it is fine to have a defined goal in life and working your way towards achieving that, but sometimes we fall short of it and we tend to frustrate, but then again the best part is the effort you made and still willing to strive on achieving..

Very touching. It reminds me of my own teacher back in junior high school who only had a bicycle to get to the school which was around 30km away. He was always happy and contented even though he has less, and we students loved him. He was the one who made deep impact on me by saying that we need to fill our live with meaningful works/acts not waste it away sleeping through the day.

He is a very great person, you are lucky to be able to see him most days and observe. It is so hard to be content and actually it's the right thing to do. Gratittude brings more of good things in our life and it seems one day your teacher will have it all.
Sometimes I complain about things forgetting I'm perfect, I can see, walk, think... there are people who cannot even do the basics.
Thanks for this discussion, it was a wake up call. Today I'll thank for everything I have.

Actually in this world only few people or professional like that being happy, contented in what they have now. Observed in our society a few people can see like that instead you can seen people try to grab every opportunity having to be famous, on the top and rich. Even bible teaches that be contented in what you have so that you can have peace in mind to the Lord. see you around

hi Kram,
I admire people like your teacher. Like what others have said, I agree with what you have said. We should be contented of what we have. If we are not yet contented we must do whatever will give us happiness and peace of mind.
I am now reading a book called "BEING HAPPY", it says there how we must think on our lives. We should be thinking that we are happy and successful. The more we think about it, the more we will feel and be like that. To enjoy life is to decide on being happy each day. Seeing the goodness of everything that's happening in our lives.

Through the living example of your teacher kramsgir, it shows that happiness and contentment may not (after all) be solely derived from material possessions and titles earned. Your narrative tells us that it is just a matter of setting a value for yourself, be happy and contented about it and live and die for it. I envy your teacher since in his twenties(?) or thirties(?) he has come to find it and embraced it as his own unique way of life. At 47, I remain struggling for more income, comfortable life and recognition from other people. I do have realized that what matters most in life is contentment and be happy with it. Despite that, I am continuously involved in the seeming endless search for more money, possession and recognition. I practically do not know when it shall end. This is not to say I'm a desperate human specie. It's just that at certain moment in our life, we need to be contented and be happy with what we have.

You are a very observant and sensitive person to realize that you teacher is content with his life. - This is what success can be like. It is not always the grandiose things that mean you are happy. It is the way you look at your life that makes you happy. We all have the choice to see all the things we love or all the things we do not like.-It is our choice.
Keep observing your teacher, if you can become his friend. You will probably find that he will be very successful, because we pull to ourselves what we think about.
There is a lot to learn from this teacher.- He already had an impact on you. He might not even know it.-
