I am a typical Dad dancer. I kind of twitch and shake the occasional leg, invariably out of beat with the music and always look and feel a complete bozo. This video kind of illustrates what I mean. www.youtube.com/watch?v=CA0q_vkeoDA
Are you a dad (or mum) dancer or do you get down and shake your booty (whatever that is)!

Haha P1kef1sh I am the kind of dancing mum... When I was young I used to dance a lot, ballet or pop, when I was a child I danced Hawaiian, my fatherĀ“s family uses to dance a lot. So.... I dance too. Last January, my husband and me went to a show, and we danced on the corridors... ha! When I dance I forget my sorrows! Blessings!... Dainy

I am not a Mom dancer! I can just barely foxtrot and other kinds of dancing are totally beyond me. I tried it a few times in my younger days and I don't even have the rhythm and coordination to do something as simple as the Monkey or the Locomotion. I'm a total disaster on the dance floor but I love to watch people dance. I would never embarrass my kids or myself by trying to dance!
Although I will dance by myself now that I live alone. My dogs think I'm wonderful whatever I do and they totally approve of my attempts to dance.

I love to dance. My kids used to be in awe of me when they and I were younger. Now it's the grand-kids and there is twice as much of me. I'm still trying to work out what the strange and pained looks from them are all about when I dance. The younger one tries to smile at me...I think she's trying to be polite and the pain of smiling is either because she is trying hard not to laugh or she is wondering what on earth I am doing. Strangely, neither of them have any rhythm when they dance...neither did their mum. Yet both of them study music so that would suggest to me they understand rhythm...the co-ordination though just isn't there.
Being the size I am now means my centre of gravity has altered (when I wasn't looking mind you) and so I miss the occasional step here and there because my balance is getting to a point where it totally sux.

Oh how I can identify with that. I recently tried to dance and almost ended up on my butt on the floor .... my Q to sit down and chair dance, much safer really.

The guy in the video is so funny! But I wished you had put a video of yourself.
I'm not a mum dancer. I'm a trained dancer and can shake my body if needed. But I'm a little embarassed because my husband can't dance to save himself and I don't like dancing with other men. I usually dance with a girlfriend when everyone's on the floor and no one knows who is dancing with who :P
Or else, I dance with the kids at home.

lol...you sound like my dad...well, he can't be compared to an elephant (far from it)....it's probably got to do with the fact that you and he share birthdays :P
I'm trained in Classical Indian dance (2-3 forms) but in the past few years, I do the freestyle popular kind of dance (I'm sure you've seen it in movies....but not the very modern popping-locking kind)

I am far from trained and dance like an elephant only with less grace!! I love to watch Indian women dance - now i sound pervy LOL. Your dancing is full of expression and delicacy. I am not a ballet or western folk dance lover. But I find eastern dance has a flow and dynamic that lends itself to the story that it is often illustrating.

In my youth I loved dancing , I would get out on the dance floor and " dance the night away". Like the other mylotters, I was complimented on my dancing , but now. well its something else. I still love to dance but after watching 'you've been framed' with some of the mum dancers, dad dancers and grandparent dancers, i think... mmm... well perhaps not. So if i need to dance, i get MTV on or any of the dance channels on TV and 'shake my booty' in the privacy of my own living room!! I think you get to a stage where you have to bow out gracefully, before you slide over on a slippery dance floor and totally lose your dignity !! I loved the Peter Kaye wedding video. It was so true, I have been to many weddings and yes they are just like that. great stuff and thanks for sharing. I love You Tube. and .. ahem... plenty of dance videos to look at too!!

When it comes to dancing, I am a good foot tapper. Occasionally I get all wild and drum on my leg with my fingers too! I used to be a good head banger though, but these days it is not the same with short hair.

I am a mom dancer, lol.. I love to dance, I can get my groove on just about at any event that calls for dancing. Music is something I enjoy and apparently so does my "booty".
Something about rhythm of music that can get me going.

Well, when I was younger I was a good dancer. I used to do ballet, tap and gymnastics, and later on I danced pretty well when I went out clubbing (even if I say so myself! )
But since becoming a mum something has happened. My co-ordination has gone somewhere, and I seem to have turned into a mum-dancer! It's very sad. My daughter tells me I'm doing it all wrong, and sometimes she tells me that I shouldn't dance at all. So I can sympathise with you!
