For me and since the first time i listened to Enter Sandman when i was still a teenager, Metallica became the very best Metal Band.
I then started to research everything about the band, older albums, singles, videos, concerts, didn't want to miss a bit.
Now, almost 20 years later, i don't listen them so many times but i can't avoid and still know by heart most of the songs.
I await for the newest album wich seems to be out soon, they just don't know how to produce bad music, they're all great.
Long live Metallica, forever.

I think they are really pretty good, but their latest works are a bit weaker than the old trash-mindf***ers they made in their classic times! But I still love them, so it doesn't matter!
Have a nice day!

Hi Ishrael,
Welcome to Mylot! Well, I have to agree with you that Metallica is a great band. I've been a fan for several years now. I met them years ago when they came to town to play. They stopped at the store that I work at. It was pretty cool. They were real down to earth guys.

Yes, I agree with you! One of the best bands ever, and the best in their genre for sure!

I think Metallica is the best heavy metal band of the 80s,and I consider Master of Puppets the greatest metal album of all times, but I must say that I was not very excited about their last albums, and I never managed to listen to St.Anger from beginning to end,it is certainly their worst album.I respect Metallica for what they did on the first five albums, but for me Iron Maiden,Black Sabbath,Megadeth,Nightwish,Dream Theater are better. But that doesn't mean that I don't love Metallica and I'm looking forward to see what they will sound like on their next album.Long live metal, not only Metallica!

I think i know what you mean, their first five were the best no doubt about it, but i do like also the latest, diferent style, diferent feeling, diferent bass player also, but the quality its all there.
Probably im suspicious because i think i would like Metallica even if they made a Tango or Sallon Dance album ehheeh (joking), but definitely great musicians, great band, great live shows.

yeah..i do.
i think especially the recording..is so "round" and tube like..means all level of guitar ,drums..all so nicely compress (in a recording point of view)..this gives more aural pleasure to the listeners..i love them..
they Rock!! of course.

Metallica WAS the best band for me but when I heard Breaking Benjamin, I switched to them quickly. Metallica has that power and intensity but they somehow lack that passion Breaking Benjamin's music has.

Metallica is definitely the best metal band to hit the music scene! The band is the one responsible for the birth of the rock music. I think no other bands could top metallica in terms of rock musicality. Metallica rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!

metallica is a band that for me, have never really hit the spot. as musicians, they are flawless, and even as showmen they have incredible stage presence and personality. I have always found however that the songs they release as single are always very strong, commercial "driving music" tunes. I have, 4 albums i think, and songs such as enter sandman, nothing else matters, st anger are brilliant. Any song which isnt released as a single, i have always found quite bland. As if they only wrote it to make up the album track numbers.
To me, they are no better musically than any of todays metal bands, but saying that, you could argue that they started the sound off. so its very awkward to place them in my mind
as a definitive answer though, i would say they are'nt the best metal band of all time

I'd say Metallica is the greatest Metal Band of all time and not even Slayer, Megadeth, Pantera comes close to that. Metallica became mainstream since they released their 1991 "black" album which have been their greatest album ever. Despite some line-up changes particularly on Bass players, James Hetfield and the gang still managed to stay on top. They're such a genius and even though people hate them for their musical changes during the load re-load era, poor them they just don't know how to appreciate music and the way they are making it.
