I have been getting gout attack off and on, very painful indeed. I still don't know what actually causes gout. Of course, it is caused by excessive uric acid in the system. The question is what causes uric acid to build up in the system. I have been told that one should not eat roots. I have been staying away from eating roots, but the pain still keeps coming back off and on.

My father used to have this gout and the only way for him to get away from the pain is to cut off his salt intake, he had to stopped eating several kinds of mushroom, avoid soya beans and peanuts and the bean foods family. After a while, his uric acid was normalized and his pain from his gout never disturbed him anymore. I think it's in the diet and sometimes in the genes!
