How much should a freelance writer charge?

I'm a work at home mom and have recently been accepting online jobs via oDesk. Since I am quite new in oDesk, I am unsure if the rates I have set are just right for the kind of work I do. I write articles and web contents for which I charge $1 a piece. Let's just say I have average writing skills. Is my rate too high or too low?
