Vindictiveness in University: Why must You be There!

Why is it that some people tend to be so vindictive? I had enough of this experience even during my university student years. Not to mention the instructors and professors I had then. I don't think its something that bothers me rather its something affecting the air! Students from different schools say, "This instructor sucks!", another would retort, "That professor stinks!", and some would add, "This teacher's terror!" They tend to give undeserving low marks among students despite satisfactory compliance on requirements and tests, worst is receiving an E or 70 on the class card. How can one cope up in this dilemma? Any possible humanitarian solution out there?! Thanks in advance...

This is a very common situation in the university I go to. Professors tend to take things personally. I think the best solution for students would be making their own record of their academic performance. List down all scores for all tests and monitor their absences and tardiness. In this way, when the professor gives an unfair mark, there would be something that can help you defend your case. That's what I do. Even though I haven't encountered such professor, I believe my records would come in handy someday. Schools and universities are institutions that are governed by laws and every case presented should be supported by pieces of evidence in order to be defended successfully. What I mentioned above was the most humanitarian way I can think of in dealing with this kind of problem. I hope it helped. :)

As a student, you have rights to report anything you think is unfairly done. If you know you did great on your test, ask for your paper and see if the checking is correct. If your professor denies you of this request, you can report him (or atleast bluff) to the dean. This might get you your paper or you might actually go through the process of reporting him. Either way is right, remember that.
